My brother has been drying his weed with tubes filled with this anti humidity little balls that comes with electronics....
Is it good? Or is it better to lock in a mason jar, open it everyday for a couple of weeks?
I tried that weed, and it dryes up pretty quickly and make the buds all crispy n shit...

what do you think?:bolt:

Slow drying is better IMO, I hang mine in a large cardboard box for upto 7 days until the stems break easy and the bud feels dry. Then I jar it up to cure it, opening the jar at least once a day and usually taking a small sample.

I've used silica gel in the past and the bud is dry in a couple of days but it just falls to bits when you touch it. I find the slow dried stuff taste better and I think its the more potent :smoke:

What Wizball said^^^
I also hang mine with plenty of air circulation & into jars. Still learning how to do that properly.
The use of chemicals may shorten the curing process but how is it going to affect the taste & quality. The old fashion ways are almost always the best.
I cure most of my own meats & you wouldn't believe the taste compared to the crap they sell in supermarkets.
Cheers:D

Edit: Get thee to the stickies lad, great place to learn to grow.

There are two (well, two basic) kinds of desiccant; those that are made to be used with or near food and consumable items, and those which are not.

If it is silica, it does not necessarily make it 'safe'.

If his came with electronics, it is likely not the food-grade variety, sometimes (but not always) this is due to the cobalt color indicator... and sometimes it is very dangerous to be used near 'consumables', ie. food or smoking products, due to the hazardous chemicals and equipment the desiccant has been processed in, or packaged near.

Either way, even food grade desiccant should be avoided if you want properly dried buds, except in the very most extreme, and moist or damp circumstances, where a dehumidifier and proper circulation for whatever reason, simply can not be used.
