This thread is just about showing love for using hot water in bongs, truly an ancient Chinese secret.

Step 1- Put water in a large microwavable cup. Fill up with as much water as your bong/bubbler requires.
Step 2- Microwave this until hot, but not dangerous and not boiling (oooooooh, just thinking about it gets me aroused)
Step 3- Carefully pour the now hot water into your piece. If you're having trouble getting the water in or there is too much spilling, try using a kitchen funnel to get the water in. Some are even small enough for bubbler carbs!
Step 4- Quickly load the bowl and enjoy the soothing relaxation of hot cannabis smoke!

*for those worried about glass shattering via thermal shock, try this method instead:

Step 1B- Place bong under a bathtub or kitchen faucet. This will only work effectively if you can get water into your piece from under the faucet. If your piece is too big, you'll have to do some improvisation.
Step 2B- Turn the faucet on at a lukewarm temperature, and leave it on. (Your piece should be overflowing with water)
Step 3B- Now begin to gradually increase the temperature of the water to your desired caution. This is the step that prevents thermal shock, as all of the glass in the bong will be heated up along with the water.
Step 4B- When your bong is finally nice and hot with warm water, dump out access water until your water chambers are at normal, usable levels. This part can be tricky if your have percolators and such

Seriously, if you haven't tried hot bong water yet, give it a chance. You'll soon be looking at your ice pinchers like you don't know who the hell they are

Yes, but I'm not quite sure yet what sounds more crazy. The idea of extreme heat and me praying GoG joints don't just suddenly explode...

...or the fact that OP and many others may be on to something with this hot water gimmick. :smoke:

The smoke is heated enough as is, how would boiling water benefit your rips?
I'm genuinely curious OP.

This sounds awesome. So simple, but I doubt I'd ever have thought of it myself.

Now I really want to get a bong. What about... hot VAPORbong hits?!

I'm honestly being serious, lol.... I said near boiling, but it doesn't have to be glass melting or anything. Maybe the hot bong water just heats the air surrounding the cannabis smoke, I don't know! I'm no bongologist, just a dude trying to get more pleasurable smoke.

Just try it once and if you don't like it never do it again..... I'm not your dad though so do whatever you want though

That's probably rapturously relaxing too.... I sadly don't have a vape yet though so I have no firsthand comments

Yeah, thanks, prolly will try it. Like I said, I guess I'm way more fearful of stress on downstems and other GoG connections, even with near-boiling water. But I guess if others haven't had any issues, should be OK. No China glass to worry about here.

And as far as the science behind it, it's likely very simple, and similar to a humidifier. The smoke is obviously heated. The water is heated, and the temperature inside your lungs is likely 95+, so it generally makes sense that it might seem comfortable or "soothing" if the temps are kept relatively the same through the entire absorption process.

I tried this a while back, I didn't like the hot smoke.

I just got done appreciating some hot bong water....

When you're really high the hot bong water makes it feel like you're ingesting the smoke of some sort of living water pipe creature...............

I go in and out of it in phases. Sometimes is nice.

I used to do hot steamy gravity bong loads but after having to wash the far off my teeth with rubbing alcohol I stopped doing those. Fucks me up though.

I also don't know how it works. For a time there I was smoking hot water bong loads of water cured weed. Mind blowing.

The issue wasn't glass melting. No, that's just stupid. It would be impossible for the water to be hot enough to melt glass. You see, when the temperature of glass is quickly changed (from room temperature to very hot or very cold), there is a chance it may shatter. This leaves a glass user wary of the heated bong water.

People often compare hot water bong hits to vaporizers, which makes sense because you inhale hot water vapor with the smoke.

I've read before that the hot water filters the smoke better than cold water, which makes sense to me.
