So here's the story: Me and my closest friend were hanging out last week when two guys randomly showed up. Apparently the four of us are going to be growing as a team. I only know one of the two people who showed up, but the other one seemed like a great guy.

Anyways, we found a good spot to start in a forest behind his house. No one goes there besides us, so we know it's safe. The spot is a nice open area surrounded by trees and constantly gets sun. Our only problem is there's massive ammounts of Stinging Nettle and wild blackberry growing in/around the spot.

How should we go about clearing everything out/setting things up? And what kind of methods could you recommend to a group of newbies? Any advice would be great.

PS: First Thread! Woo!

Well First of all, are you sure you would like to grow with an individual you dont even know? that has bad idea written all over it and I would never even consider such a thing, but thats me. Anyway...its really late in the season, I'm not sure where you are located bt either way its late... If you really would like to experiment for fun I would suggest some 5 gallon buckets, I would keep the area as natural as possible but make some room to move around.. foxfarm soil foxfarm nutes, cant go wrong... For first timers I'd suggest hauling in tap water if that is reasonable, if it isnt then you definitely have to test your water source ph...

Thanks a lot for the advice. I know 2/3 of the people well enough so I'm okay growing with them. I live in Oregon, so the weathers really weird here. This is right around when summer weather actually starts. And yeah our first crop is mainly an experiment for future projects. Again, thanks for the ideas.

Or you could dig some holes and mix your own organic soil and skip the use of nutes.

Oregon grower here ..and if your not outside full blast by now ..you're waiting till next year .

we start indoors April/March, set outside between mid May and early June.

also if you think just cause you're in Oregon it's okay to "open lips" you got an education coming son. Cops aren't the only thing to worry about that packs guns.

Even small plants would yield something come fall.

Honestly i can tell you from past outdoor grows that....you dont really wanna grow with other people..go find a nice spot and grow by urself...just you knowing is enough when you bring 1 more person into to it they might get greedy and steal it, they might tell someone and they might take it. or they could just slip up and say something about it....if you grow alone you have no worries..if someone finds your crop you didnt pick a good enough spot

I always look for the feilds that are the least taken care of (lots of weeds)..cuz that means farmers dont really come out there til harvest time......

Rule #1 is to not let anyone know your growing
Plus 4 man team = 1/4 the total harvest

Problem is I don't have any of the means to grow alone. But everything should be safe. The only way I know of to the spot is through my friends house who I'd trust with my life. So hopefully we picked a good spot. Still, thanks for the advice.

I know 2/3 of the people well enough so I'm okay growing with them.

Those odds are too rich for my blood. Common sense rule is tell no one, not even people you know, that's already too risky -- adding in people you don't know is extremely risky.

no. 4 man team means; 1 guy gets100 %, and other three scream "ripper".

Thanks to everyone again for the advice. My plan is now to finish this crop with my group for some experience and then begin gathering the means to grow my own next season. Thanks, it really helped me straighten things out

Second that, Hope2toke!!! I think he set a moderator's hair on fire. Let me know if you find out where he resurfaces. He knows too much & enjoys talking too much to just disappear:mad:

to be fair, I saw quite a bit of wharf's comments that I found helpful and it's only been towards the last few months that I've been getting into the tangle. challenging the status quo of chemical gardening for cannabis. As you know I'm convinced of a certain way to garden yada yada. It does take a lot of re-thinking and I am still rethinking my techniques.. any way see you round tha absolute beginner section where reality and imagination converge.
