'Like' is bad

Have you mods/admins noticed that the first wave of posts are almost always structured with the sole intention of getting likes? It is always someone trying to be witty, or funny, and it seems like it really breeds stupidity.

I dunno. I wish the feature wasn't there. I would at least like a negative rep option so I can negative rep people when their response to every post is "COOL STORY BRO"

If you look in the Tokers Q&A (primarily where I lurk) you'll see that almost no questions are answered correctly until page 2 or 3 because it is just a bunch of users trying to be funny and get likes.

Examples? I'll just go to the first response to the first two threads in Toker's Q&A
A user asked how he will receive his first ounce.

A suitcase.

A user asked why people don't care about what they're smoking.

Have you ever had a conversation with a fellow annoying stoner that never shuts up about what the bud is, what strain, talking about sativa and indica while the other person doesn't care as long as he gets high?

Both of these posts are obnoxious, yet they got a bunch of likes.

It's just dumb ass kids. Happens every summer man. Just wait a two months and it will be back to normal.

Lol you can't get mad at people for liking what they like. And neg rep is not going to happen. There have been many threads about.

We had neg rep before you joined. People abused it heavily.

Likes also have no effect on anything.... people were doing that kind of stuff before the like feature was added (its not a very old feature for GC)

So all in all, the story goes like this "people on the internet will do silly shit, thats how it works"

I guarantee likes or not, it would be happening still..... also consider this site is a bunch of high people... have you ever heard a high person say something dumb for a laugh?

If people are posting pointless posts just to get rep or likes, do us all a favor and REPORT THE POSTS so that we can delete them and issue warnings/infractions.

Absolutely not. There's a line between being funny and trolling. Unfortunately most of our users can't tell the fucking difference.

I agree I thought this forum was good at first but at closer inspection its just a bunch of kids trying to show off, no real place for adult discussion here.

If you want more adult discussion you should stay in the MJ Cultivation section.

I like the "Likes".

I am all but 65 (2 weeks to go) and the "Likes" show me if I am getting over the "age disconnect". There is so much I want to teach you guys, and the "Likes" tell me if I am getting through!

I give "Likes" out sparingly- my "Likes" are worth getting!

If you want adult discussion here at GC, perhaps you should try the philosophy section? I don't personally go there much, but if you're wanting to avoid childish bullshit, it might be a good start.

The moral of the story is don't ask stupid questions...

But honestly if you want adult discussion try philosophy, religion (maybe not), and politics. Granted philosophy and religion are 98% Christian bashing and politics is all Ron Paul. Can't ask for too much when this is a forum for people that get high. High people like to laugh, not answer questions.
