Thinking about breeding dogs, how profitable is it to sell them? They're pure bred chihuahuas with certificates proving that. How much do people usually sell them for?

My friend bread yorkies for a grand a piece..i wouldnt buy dogs just to breed though cause you're supposed to let them have a break in between pregnancies and a lot of people don't..if you can't see it as you want dogs as the priority and breed them occasionally then dont do it..don't really want a puppy mill ya know

the person across the street from me breeds hunting dogs that he trains for about a year before selling and they go for around 10k. They live in a nice house in a nice town and have always had brand new trucks so i would say that he does pretty well with it. they dont just breed em though they breed train and then go over with the dog to teach the new owner how to use the dogs in order to hunt with them.

If you're breeding for profit, then you shouldn't be breeding!

I grew up in the industry and back yard breeding there is no money. In nj chihuahua pups go for 5-1500 each.

Dude, no offense but there are wayyyyyyy too many homeless and abused dogs in the world to have another person breeding dogs for profit. :(

You might make a few bucks, but your soul will die. Seriously. Just adopt. All mine were someone else's garbage and they are the loves of my life.

That is because those dogs are smarter than most people on this site. I payed 1500 an another 8k for training my yellow lab. Best hunting dog ever.
If they are pure breed papered dogs and u have the akc docs u could sell them for 15-2000. But with the economy now not many people are trying to spend that much when u can get one from the pound for a 100 bucks.

I can't fucking stand chihuahuas.

Their only real use is to make mini dobermans.. lmao..

I despise anyone selling dogs.. rescues are where it's at!

If you have a real specialty breed/bloodline, you might be able to. Once you get the reputation for a great product you always will. Getting all 3 of those, breed/bloodline/reputation of breeder......takes years. So to answer your question, buy some soil, some seeds and a grow light and go forth and make $$$$$$$$$
