Hey GC, my last project just died on me, and its hard to say i was to blame

:(

BUT! i have found a great deal on a fast fun and reliable little ride.

after all my research ive found it to be the least expensive repair wise and the least expensive tuning wise.

i didnt want some civic that after 2 months of hard labor barely has 170hp.

so i thought lets get one that is that high stock.

the s-70 screamed to me.

the owner wants 2200, i offered 1200, got denied and offered 1500.

so i caved at that and am picking it up later today.

cant wait to get started on this!

I will be updating this thread constantly with all the updates done to it.

:smoke::smoke:

ALSO, thats not my license plate :D

Nice choice. I had an 850T that hauled ass. It was probably the fastest car I've had thus far In like.

Haha I was careful not to get any when I had mine. But cruising w a blunt down the highway w the sunroof open. I'd occasionally stomp it, just for fun. They got some power. That's for sure. Pretty reliable to boot.

Don't u love jumping into a whole new car culture your not familiar with. I'm a jeep Cherokee guy. Had many. Can list part numbers like u wouldn't believe. When I got my e30. It was like a whole new language when I started gettin into the how to's. And got a bunch of new tools to work on her.

When I first bought my 87 Wrangler it was so new to me I didnt know where to start. Now since Iv broke so much stuff and had it apart dozens of times its a good feeling when you know what you have. Sadly Im considering selling it to start a new project, looking for an early XJ or even a dart/duster. OP whats the stock power that car is putting down? Pretty sleek DD, cant wait to see what you make of it.

Just a word of advice. If you do get an Xj. Go for a Pre 97. The interior is way nicer. Full roof rack factory instead of a half rack. The only thing I like about 97 and newer is the front clip. And u can swap those.

Very exactly true, i have a parts list quite long ahead of me.

dashboard has issues, interior needs the most work.

engine was purrrrring today, had it go from about 30-90 in about 5 seconds on the highway.

but i got a gnarly shaking going on around 70 mph so either the drive shafts bouncing like nuts, or the wheels are unbalanced either orr gotta bring her in tomorrow after i get it registered with new plates

I really want a two door one, were they only around for certain years?

No they had them for most production years I'm pretty sure. They are def more rare tho. What most people don't realize is that its actually easier to get in an out of the back in a 2dr. Doesn't makes sense. But its true. If you get one. Hold onto it. I'm still kicking myself for selling my first jeep. A 94 2dr 5sp. Basically the rarest Xj you can get. I never see 5sp anymore. Much less 2drs that often. I still maintain tho. Get a Pre 97 whether it 2 or 4dr.

theres alot of pictures coming,

i can tell you that, but for now i cant even drive HER!

as my insurance company is still pending on an accident on the old vehicle i had and wont let me add the volvo SO i cant get it registered.

annnnoying.

but i plan on doing a few mods this weekend, and fixing the dashboard is first priority.

then good engine wash, new plugs, balance tires, and rotate. oil change and gotta install or find the ATF dip stick as i cant friggin find it.

This is the updated repair list.

Gas tank latch
Upper strut mount
Brake pads.
Wiper blades.
Head lights.
Air filter
Dashboard
Shifter knob
Shifter decal

All simple repairs, the shittiest part is gonna be the spring compressor for the strut. and the jackstands and the torque wrench and socket sets, but at harbour freight its all decently priced.

get payed this friday, after shopping and bills rest goes to car!

hey man my bros GTI was having shaking problems at one point, we found out the problem was because the tube in the tire was split or something and the tube had a huge bump in it that you can pretty much only feel, about half way along the tire.
