Inspired by the how many miles thread. I kept seeing posts in there at 100,000-170,000 and I was like shit both my rides have over 200. I realized that, the 200 thousand benchmark was a lot more significant to me than 100 or say 150. So anybody else in the 200,000+ Club? What do ya drive

1) 1999 jeep Cherokee w 210,000
2) 1986 BMW e30 w 245,000

Jeep has new paint now. Black truck liner up to the second body line. And tan textured from there up. The pic was before paint and before I had my winch wired up. It's a warn I got for $50 but had to build a control box and everything as it came out of a equipment rental place and I guess they kept that stuff. But hey. For $50 I have a warn winch thats pulled me or whoever else out when needed.

Ehh. Define problems. Some sensors have gone out here and there. But I wheel hard. It's regeared, 4:56. Lockers front and rear. Front and rear bumpers. W winch upfront. Stripped carpet and truck lined floor w drain holes. And my favorite part. A complete set of leather Pre 97 Xj seats and interior panels. Wayy more comfy than the newer seats.

Nice man. You want to turn this into a picture thread too? I'd like to see how all the rides have held up.

But I don't define sensors failing problems. Comes w the territory.. ESP w a newer car. My 91 never had a problem. Had the coolest jeep interior I've ever seen and the motor pulled like a train. W over 260,000 miles. Actually was probably my favorite xj overall outta the 5 I've bought.

A jeep doesn't leak anything btw. It marks it's territory. :).

Ehhhh, I'm not good with car talk. I'm a woman, that's my excuse. I'm too busy making sammiches to learn about cars.

It's a V6, pretty sure. Not real knowledgeable on much more than that. :P

Done me damn well, though. I've had a few issues with it. Had to get the tranny replaced a few years ago, it's got a uhh... what do you call it, some kind of leak that makes it sound all chuggy. Vacuum leak maybe?

Still keeps pushing on through, though. Took it on a road trip nearly halfway across the country not too long ago, and it did just fine... to the surprise of nearly everyone. :smoking:

Ok. A little jeep schoolin. If its a 6 cylinder. It's an inline 6. Not a v6. Unless its a Cherokee from mid-late 80s. That's a 2.5 litre v6 made by Chevy. The inline 6 is the history of jeep. Been using them since '41. It's the reason they have so much torque and still get decent mpg for what it is. Thats why I won't buy a jeep newer than 07. They stopped using the 4.0 litre high output i6 and used the same 3.7 v6 that Chrysler uses in the caravan. Big let down. No torque and and no balls.

Ahh okay, so mine being a 6 cylinder would be an inline 6 and not a V6?

I'm still a little confused about the difference, but I will keep that in mind. Thanks. :D

As far as Jeeps later than '07 goes... disregarding the technicalities entirely, they're all just fuckin' ugly! The new models Jeep keeps putting out... the Liberty, for instance... so ugly. So very, very ugly.

Get a grip, Jeep. :P

Hey. It's nicer than mine I'm some regards.. 2dr, mines a 2 seater w 4 doors. Ha. and the clear is pealing pretty bad. It's actually in the shop now while I'm on vacation. To see if they can track down a short that I couldn't find. It's killing me. Mechanically it's bulletproof. But the damn old BMW wiring is a bitch. Once that's fixed. It's gonna need some paint. I'm trying to rebuild a super eta. It's got a schrick cam already. Just gonna see what the internals look like, new tbelt and water pump. And itll get dropped in once I have the money to boost it, reliably.

True too. The new jeeps suck all around.

Ok. A v6 has 3 cylinders on each side in a V shape. Hence the name.

An inline 6, or straight 6, has 6 cylinders placed directly behind each other. It's basically one half of a v12.

Bout the leak.. Does it not hold cruise control? That's a sure sign of a vac leak. And I bet I could tell u where to look if it doesn't.

Ahh, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining it for me. :D

It still holds cruise control. I think it's an exhaust leak, not a vacuum leak. I remember now the dude I (or actually my dad, because I was 17 at the time) bought it from talked about how he had replaced the exhaust system a few times and couldn't manage to fix the exhaust leak.

I haven't done shit to fix that issue, but it's run just fine for the last 7 years, ignoring the point where we had to replace the tranny.

I mean, there are some other quirks with it. Like, the alignment is totally off and it always veers to the right. I think that's the cause of the weird vibration that happens only when I'm going about 45mph with the wheel straight. :P

But that Jeep still takes me everywhere I need to go, without a problem. I  my Jeep. :smoking:

Ahh. Exhaust leak. Yea. Sounds like it could be the culprit, shouldn't make it chug tho. Just sound louder. . Most people replace up to the headers when they do exhaust. And jeep has had a problem w the headers cracking at the coupler. Since removing the headers means taking off the intake manifold and a bunch of work to get it off and then back on, so most people just do a header back exhaust. I took my headers off and re-welded all the seams and no problem since.
