Ok well, I don't exactly know if it's critical. But it certainly isn't good.

I just germed 3 seeds, 2 of which were auto's

1 of them sprouted much faster than the other 2, it was one of those fast-flowering autos. It sprouted, and then yesterday as I was moving the jiffy pot, it just fell out. No external force at all...just...slipped right out of the hole. By this time its cotelydons were already out and it was an inch tall.

I loooked at the taproot as i was putting it back in, and noticed that it only went maybe a quarter inch down, where it quickly narrowed down to a hair's width, and had *maybe* turned brown (then again, that may have just been the fact that it was dirty.

Did the taproot just decide to take its sweet ass time? or did something go horrendously wrong? I know i didnt break it when i put the sprouted seed in, but idk.

I put it back in the hole very carefully, and put it a bit deeper than it had been to keep it from falling out again, as well as to hopefully encourage root development there just in case.

Soo...what's the damage, Doc? Will she ever walk again?

Also, just an fyi- the strain in question is +speed

the other 2 are Auto Berry Ryder and Afrodite (some free sativa seed)

those 2 are just about ready to poke through soil, in fact i can see the seed now

it's easier to just place the seed in a water cup (distilled) for 36 hours then in soil 1/4 inch sideways or pointy side UP so you don't touch the tap root which has tiny roots you don't see that get ripped when messed with. In all cases, leave it now, if it must grow it will you can't change much now.

I dug out the other 2 seeds because they havent broken ground yet, which was strange. The taproots havent grown a single bit since i put them in a week ago...i put them in water to see what becomes of them.

What would cause that??

wait til the tap root slightly comes out or the seed opens after 24-36h, then place 1/4 inch in the soil sideways or pointy side up. Then don't touch.

the seeds are no good then , 36 hours in distilled water (or water you let open for the chlorine), they'll crack open, the tap root slighlty comes out, and then you plant it.

they cracked and the taproot grew a bit...but stopped. idk what would make 3 different strain seeds just stop. horrible luck maybe

you shouldn't let the taproot grow more than a little bit (2 mm), then place in the soil. It stops growing because it has no medium to cling to I'd say. Or the seeds were old and not viable. If the tapr root is long than place it downwards (pointy side down). If it is short, then place it upwards (covered with a bit of soil), aka pointy side UP.

the no medium thing does make sense...it was jiffy peat. not much there in the way of nourishing soil. ill try replanting into good soil

then it's tampering with the tap root (i thought it was in water for too long). they don't need much food (castings/pet/lime/perlite). You're not supposed to see the tap root but let it grow on its own.

then it's your seeds that were bad if you know how to germinate, there's no mystery
