Long Beach Police Investigate Excessive Force in Pot-Shop Raid | NBC Southern California

A raid on a marijuana dispensary in Long Beach was caught on video showing officers smashing surveillance cameras and stepping on a suspect, moves that prompted accusations against the officers of excessive force.
More than a dozen police raided THC Downtown Collective in the 300 block of Atlantic Boulevard on June 19, officials said. The video was posted to YouTube by user "Long Beach Raids" on July 1. Officials said they learned about the video on July 3.
The two-minute-long video opens to show a man surrendering to police, three of whom surround him while two put him in handcuffs.

One of the officers is seen stepping on volunteer employee Dorian Brooks' back with both feet before stepping on his neck, with what Brooks described as 300 pounds of pressure.

The video, which was being recorded at an off-site location, then cuts to an officer pointing at the recording camera before another looks up and smashes the lens.

"They noticed there was a camera that was on the wall right above my head, so they proceeded to smash it with a metal rod," said Brooks, adding that the camera shattered on him. "I wasn't able to protect myeslf because my hands were cuffed."

So... how many grams of stock were missing after the raid? Nothing but a mob shakedown for not paying off the local police chief.

Interns are volunteer employees. Voluntarily Employed with no pay.

Either way, arguing the semantics used by the media is useless

This shit is fucked up

Hmmmmm, wonder what those cops are thinking NOW?

I've seen it before where the "volunteers" are simply paid in weed. I saw one guy that would pick up trash around the entire shopping complex and they'd give him a gram or two a day.

I'm sorry, but if a officer or anyone for that matter, thinks he has some right to do anything like that to anyone, sadly, there be bodies everywhere!

I respect the law, but don't ever let any mother fucker, especially a pig with a badge, ever treat you like that!!!! If they don't wanna do there job like they are supposed to, pay the price now mofo@

The uc who destroyed personal property should be charged with felony evidence tampering as well as the rest of the douchbags who stood around and watched him commit a felony and laugh.

Obviously, the world is blind, especially so to the fact that the biggest criminals in society, are more often than not, the ones, swearing to "protect" us. Officer who do this type of shit, should be hung in public :) Then, lets see what cops think they can do this shit and get away with it.

If we really wanna detour this kinda behavior, we need to set examples. They do this, because they know they are going to get away with it, just like any other fucking criminal. Wonder what the re-offender rate is for public hangings? :)

This is pathetic, but what is even more pathetic is that absolutely NO action will be taken against those cops, guaranteed.

lots of clear images of the cops faces...

why not post some info-wanted posters all over the city asking for info on the whereabouts of these criminals...they broke in, tore up the place, abused people, destroyed private property that was NOT illegal nor putting anyone in danger...(cameras)...and stole mmj from patients.

I say make these cops faces, names, working location, public knowledge...
ask why the police were destroying cameras...

Swarm the police station with camera's asking the police chief why the security camera's were destroyed, if the cops had nothing to hide then why are they so intent on hiding?

Absolutely shameful.
I should hope that all of the murderers and thieves of Long Beach are completely taken care of if they're going to use brutality on a fucking pot-shop.

Well, there's a $1 mil suit filed already against the city/cops and if that guy wins, the cop steping on the guy is done.

once i was being arrested for marijuana possession, i was cuffed before they even found the weed, and i was on the ground so a cop grabbed me throat and pulled my up. i gagged and couldnt breathe for 5 seconds. i think its part of the reason the charges were cleared

oh yes...I hope it is a win...should be a big deal in the news...unless the media has a problem with reporting police state activities...at least this source seems to be willing to expose police corruption.

You can pretty much assume that 50 percent or more of dispensary owners who don't get raided don't get raided because they are FBI informants.

Word to the wise...more exposure to come via major media outlets in the coming days, no doubt.
