I said that because really, Alienware computers are like Macs, you arent paying for the hardware, at all, you are paying for a very nice case (alienware) or for macs you are paying for an aesthetically pleasing device + mac OS X.

Neither am I mate; though i am an IT, i have only put a pc together from scrap 1 time, but its very simple. Honest.
Its only a matter of ordering all the parts you need,
case,
power supply,
motherboard,
a Few sticks of Memory,
Processor,
Video Card,
Harddrive,
CD-DVD ROM drive,
monitor and basically thats really all you need.
There are tons and tons of quality videos / walkthroughs on youtube that can assist you with every step of the process down to the hardest (imo) which is knowing where to connect all of the cords n such.
Really though if you love alien ware for the look of their PC's and can justify the extra price for that and that ALONE, then get one, otherwise please build your own or atleast select your own parts and have iBUYPOWER Gaming PC: Custom Gaming Computers and Laptops put it together and ship it to you. A quality gaming rig can be assembled for 1000-1500 and even as low as 600 if you are really cutting corners on parts.
just something to think about if you are getting a new rig
