Ah Moldova… the poorest country in Europe, which just so happens to have had a Communist party majority in its parliament since 1998.

These two points are not unrelated.

Despite having achieved its independence from the Soviet Union over 20 years ago, the state is still a major part of the Moldovan economy…from setting prices and wages to media, healthcare, agricultural production, air transport, and electricity.

Under such management, it’s no wonder, for example, that Moldova has to import 75% of its electricity. It is the exact opposite of self-sustaining.

The government does a reasonable job of chasing away foreigners as well.

Agriculture is the mainstay of Moldova’s economy… and while on one hand they say “we welcome foreign investment in agriculture,” on the other they say “foreign investors cannot own agricultural property.” It’s genius.

The average wage here is less than $300 per month… all while Moldovans’ purchasing power is getting eaten away by inflation. GDP per capita, meanwhile, is in the ballpark of many destitute African nations like Swaziland.

Of course, not everyone is poor. The politicians at the top of the totem pole are doing great, always pulling the strings in their favor at the expense of everyone else...

Free healthcare isn't free.....you can't have freedom and socialism. The only way free healthcare would be fair is if they outlawed all drug use (alcohol and tobacco) and eating unhealthy (fast foods, etc.). Why should people like me (those who take care of their bodies with exercise and eating healthy while not abusing drugs) have to pay for the 50+% of the population that destroy their bodies?

Marxism is a theory and communism is the practical implementation of that theory. A massive taxpayer funded health care system that is imposed on an entire nation of 350 million people most of whom don't want or need it could qualify, but there are plenty of other examples.

"Obamacare" is not marxist. The capitalists are still in control of production, and the government is forcing our hands to feed them.

Unfortunately, millions of working Americans do not any healthcare at all, some have lousy healthcare, some are going bankrupt from the bills, and others have it for free.

You can laugh all you want at Moldova, but at least everybody is covered, except for those who are at risk because they live in very remote, rural regions.

Before we point the finger at this unfortunate nation, we should take a good, hard look in the mirror.

What is capitalist about removing the consumers decision making ability in commerce, implement a mandatory tax and regulating the amount of money spent per individual based on its cost to the government?

Obama care makes all tax payers responsible for the health of each individual. It's communism pure and simple.

Sounds like a catch 22.

In the u.s. They had the stamp act. You had to bring marijuana to city hall to get a stamp to use/smoke/grow it. BUT, by doing so, you broke the law and incriminated yourself. The D.E.A. Was born out of this rape of the constitution....sadly.

A lot of citizens could not afford to go to collage so the government gave us the student loan scam. Now millions who still can't afford to pay for college have massive debts and no job to pay it back.

Obamacare actually just makes taxpayers pay for more poor/old peoples health insurance. Your not paying for everyone, instead of doing that, it is just forcing people to buy health insurance if they dont have it and are not poor or old enough.

I don't recall Marx advocating the "collusion of government and their favored corporate interests" to give "private hands a monopoly". That sounds like crony capitalism or state capitalism.
