Hi all, This is my first ever grow and am a little confused as to how to trim my plant below the screen.. I have been heavily lst'ing this baby from seed as i have been waiting for the funds to purchase my equipment.. its the middle of winter here now where i am and she has been outside during the day and under 2x 130w cfl veg bulbs at night for about 12 weeks now... For the last 4 nights she has been under a MH under the screen i built...
As far as i know, i was told the seed was ak-47 but not real sure..
I will try and get some pics up as soon as possible, still trying to work this site out....

Literally everything underneath the screen goes. Every single bit of leaf and bud site. There should be nothing except bare branch at screen level and below.

The biggest mistake you make when you start trimming, whether it's in a scrog or not, is to be greedy in your minds eye. You hardly ever draw an accurate picture of how the plant will grow, and you leave bits on which you realise much later in the grow, could and should have been removed. With experience you get braver with your trimmings and you always reap the rewards.

Ok thanks heaps for your help..
I understand everything below the screen must go, i am just a little worried that because i heavily lst'd and topped twice and supper cropped once that 90% of my plant is still below the screen.. Should i let her grow a little more through the screen first or should i slowly start removing fan leaves now? It has only been under the screen for 5 days now..
Also any idea if this could be an Ak-47 and pheno type?

personally i would wait and start pruning within 2nd week of flower thus allowing lower tops to stretch into screen once she starts to flower get under the screen cleaning out compete branches and all under growth thus allowing all energy to top buds

Important use steril razor , scissors when triming plant undergrowth and keep cleaning weekly as buds sites will always form also very important is give them good feedings reason i say this is plant is producing more buds then its genetics traits because you trained it that way so obviously plant is going to need more food

few pics of my girls starting Day 14 flower will start cleaning under growth this week

I still don't quite understand the concept of scrog. Do you just stick a screen on top and cut the undergrowth or do you have to direct the branches into different squares in the wireframe?

I'm still new as well, but my understanding is you LST them heavily and top them early on creating many many tops, an once they hit the screen they should for the most part be spread out pretty good. Easily guiding each one it, but since they all can't be 100% the same height the tallest one is kept from growing into a slot to allow all other tops to catch up.

Correct me if I'm wrong

best description on how to scrog is looking in the scrog method thread you LSt , supercrop , fim your plants to make them real bushy place them under a screen lower screen spread out plant as as plant grows keep moving and tucking all growth under scrog flip to flower super crop first week in flower thus helping the stretch phase place once flowering starts start cleaning all under growth below scrog table this will make top buds become larger thus all energy is going to top growth

That completely makes sense, thanks guys. I was missing how people got it so bushy, I've got it now. I want to do a grow like that. Hope this all works out.

no what you want to do is clean up all the lower 1/3 of plant right to the stem if there branches that are no where near top then get rid of it you need fan leafs on top i will start on my girls to night an post you some pics leave everything up to 2" below your string everything under that clean up to stem

So how do you flush? Without getting water everywhere(try to avoid the smart response). Pat you have those little trays, will you not flush? I have a lady thats been LST good for awhile and wanted to try but haven't figured that part out.

I have never done a flush, this is my first ever grow..
What i was planing to do was to just feed the plant heavily with straight water a few days before i flip to 12/12 ( not even sure if this is needed?) And i was planing on doing the same thing before i harvest...
