examples.
9/11? I've talked to muslims who say they hate the extremists who were behind 911 because of how it went against the quran and how they were giving true Muslims a bad name and bending things that are said in the quran to fit how the extremists believe. Also westboro Baptist church or whatever. "True" Christians wouldn't be protesting how they hate homos and soldiers are fags that will go to hell and protesting at funerals etc.

In the bible, it says something along the lines of "if a man lays with another man, he should die" etc, the way I see it, the westboro Baptist church members are taking that passage too far by all their protesting etc, instead of the passages in the bible that talk about being kind and respecting others that those extremists seem to ignore

On the other hand, no. Extremists are brainwashed into thinking blowing themselves up is for a higher cause and they'll receive 72 virgins or some shit along those lines even though it says in the Qur'an harm to yourself or anyone else is a capital sin.
I agree with Bruhlazer, extremists take things too far. In the bible it says that male and female are equal but then priests etc don't allow women to become bishops.

I'm a Muslim, but that does not go to say I follow everything an old man that hasn't seen the world tells me to. Hell, I once asked an Imam (same as a priest) on his thoughts on weed and said it drives people mad and makes them live in caves. See where I'm getting at?

that solves nothing... other than showing that he doesn't follow his book and thus he will be rotting and burning in hell while being tortured for all eternity. (isn't that what happens?)
hes not a 'True' muslim.
I am not trying to single out a single religion.

No no, I said I don't follow everything an old man says. That does not go to say I don't follow the book.

Don't drink. Do smoke(weed). Drinking is just poison in my opinion. Weed however, gives me pain relief and relaxation while at the same time I can function and not be aggressive towards anything with a pulse. It has more pros than cons and therefore is acceptable as a medicine.

Heretic: someone who believes almost everything I believe.
Extremist: someone who believes what the book actually says.

Westboro baptist came to my college to protest. At one point our crowd had a poster with two chicks making out. The comment on the poster: if this doesn't turn you on you must be gay.

your breaking a rule in your book aren't you?
no mind/body altering substances shall be consumed etc?
oh wait, nevermind, you found a way to work it into your life, bending the rules of the book you claim to follow.
yeah...
True believer: someone who believes what I believe.
Heretic: someone who believes almost everything I believe.
Extremist: someone who believes what the book actually says.

That's your opinion, which you are rightfully entitled to.
Thunder - Not really, I can still control my self and my actions, it relieves my stress as well as pain. It is widely used in Egypt and in the Islamic world in general as a medicine. Take Iran for example, it's legal to grow and sell there.
I'm not bending the rules. Islam says something that harms you in high quantities must not be consumed in small quantities. As far as I'm aware weed has no permanent side effects and it's pro's (pain and stress relief, anti-cancer properties, help with insomnia etc.) outweigh it's con's by a million. (short term memory loss)

They are the same people, just that when things go bad the scapegoats are labeled extremists for carrying out the dirty work.
Got any proof to back your points up?
