Why do stoners hate cops?

Cops deserve to be hated. You choose a profession which is absolutely unethical. How can you choose to stand for something that is being forced by corrupt system. Stupid blind cop-working mice.

First I HATED cops, then I was in a phase where i "understood" that they have to work to feed their families but as I grew older everything fell into the place. Low intelligent, full of themselves, dumb, fat, agitated - all these are attributes that can be connected to MOST of the cops out there.

I understand why, to a point.

Aside from the kids that think it's part of the culture where they have to hate police...*Some* police are real assholes...they join the force/service as a power trip, wearing the badge that gives them what they never had in their own lives...they tend to be the ones that'll pick on people for no real reason calling it "suspicion", and of course when it comes to weed they will be as big a prick as they always are.

However, I've met many a cop I don't mind at all.
I'm not really the kind of guy that dresses or acts in a way that draws negative attention from them though, so I've never been in their firing line. Even at times I've been arrested the majority of the police that have attended have been respectful and professional.

My general position towards cops, is that if you're a generally respectable person who isn't a stupid criminal fuckwit, you don't have much to fear from them - the great majority simply do their job (no, not like nazis ) and I believe we're far better off for their presence than we'd be without it.
I've had Police help me find things, I've had them help me when I've been assaulted and thrown out as a kid, and I've had them help me with directions.
Of course, I've come across a stray dickhead who thinks his job is to ACT a certain way and talks down to everyone around them...generally if you speak, you're running the risk of incurring further bullshit.
As I said though, these are the kind've assholes that get into the job simply to have something over people...and are more likely the ones that won't make it long term.

I mean, there's nothing to hate on really...unless you're a criminal by acts (not unfortunate definition) then you're good.
Really, I am generally a good person and a law abiding one at that.
The only things I do that make me a criminal by definition, are maybe a bit of casual piracy in terms of downloading the occasional track and tv show, and I indulge in a prohibited substance.
Other than that, I see eye to eye with the law and I respect *most* of those that enforce it.

Just because cops don't out themselves as pro-weed and give people an "out" if they're caught, doesn't mean they enjoy taking in people for this harmless "crime", I'm sure many of them would rather weed use was more prevalent than a certain asshole-inducing "legal" drug.

So in answer to the OPs question - I understand their reasons to hate cops, though I do not agree with them.

Sometimes you work in a job where you have little to no control.
They are *also* there to deal with REAL crime, which they do as well, and surely a great deal more than they have to tackle weed.
I mean, if you say that you've never met a half decent cop in your life, I'll believe you but I'd say that would've been extremely unlucky.
Then again, I live in Australia so I can't really speak for your law officers, all I know I've seen on COPS.
Just, I think in a lot of cases, people tend to refer back to their negative experiences. Which yeah, if you say is ALL of yours, fair enough.

 

Don't hate cops, just afraid of the corrupt system they enforce...they are the footsoldiers for the corporate controlled government...Cops have too much power right now...we need a new civil rights movement IMO...ever since 911...civil rights have been destroyed...u don't now how precious civil rights are, until you've had yours violated.

 

Some stoners are lazy good for nothings who do nothing but feed off the tit of society, but most of us are hard working decent people just doing there job, just like most cops are.

Without police our society wouldn't even exist anymore. However, I get angry at the laws the cops have to enforce, not at the actual cops. Unless they are dickheads...

i hate cops because they stole money from me when i got arrested. had 140 before, when i arrived at the station, i had 120, then had to pay another 40 to make bail. just a bunch of liars and thiefs.

 

This thread is like asking why arsonists hate fireman.

Their job is to try and ruin our lives because their government masters don't approve of our favorite harmless hobby. Obviously that is going to result in a good bit of contempt.

 

Great post, I really agree with your point of view. I also have a recent story to contribute to this thread that shows both sides of the argument:

This happened last week. About 8 of us (all friends) decide to go to this one guy's place to chill in his backyard, have a few drinks, smoke some pot (for those who do), etc. Then his neighbour comes out, joins us for a few mins, then invites us to their backyard to have a little bonfire. So now we're all at the house next door, getting kinda drunk, having a good time with the fire. My buddy says he's gotta take a piss and we both felt like smoking, so we brought our shit (pipe, weed, grinder, etc) and walk to the bike path through the trees across the street. Right as my buddy's in a bush, taking a piss, a helicopter starts shining its light on us (not uncommon when you're in that area). A few seconds later, there's a voice and bright light coming down one end of the path and a cop car blocking off the spot we just walked in from. "Fucking great..." was the sarcastic thought going through my head at the time. The cop starts acting like Mr. Tough-Guy-Officer-Dick shining the light in our faces, questioning us in circles and then complaining that we said the same thing 3 times. He then asks us what we're doing, and we answer him truthfully (leaving the weed out of it). Of course, he doesn't believe it and asks more questions. Finally he takes my ID and gets my buddy's name, runs us both through the system, and we come up clean. He then goes on to do the usual "a ticket for public urination is $___, and you could also get one for public intoxication for $___, so don't piss in public again."

Then it was like he flipped a switch, and became Mr. Nice Cop. Made small talk saying my buddy looks like a "punk rocker", then made us guess what kind of music he's in to, etc. When we were done, we shook hands, the cop said have a good night, and all was good. As we were leaving I asked what was going on, they said that about 2 minutes ago they had multiple reports of girls screaming in the area. I guess in that situation, being two guys on a sketchy path around midnight is pretty suspicious

But yeah, I posted that story to show that many cops can be absolute dicks, but that they're also out there to help protect people and not bust people like us. My buddy was drunk and had no ID on him (and was wearing punk-related clothing), I was obviously high (and look like a stoner), but the cop didn't care about that.

I don't blame him for being a dick to two guys on a sketchy path after a girl has possibly been raped.

 

To hate cops in general is truly retarded. Sure, there are particular cops that are assholes and I love to hate 'em. But where the fuck would society be without them? In a shit hole.

People want to hate on cops one minute, but when shit hits the fan they expect to be saved by the police. Seems like a selfish, one-way street to me. Of course there are rules and regulations that suck, but that's life. What the fuck do you expect? There are so many varying ideas in this world that something will always cause conflict. I'm growing tired of worrying about what the ignorant think. What they say means nothing.

 

I only hate cops that will bust you for having a 8th and give you a 400 dollar fine and 6 months of probation just for that. That was back in South dakota though. I live in denver now and the police are the least of my worries.

 

I'm a cop hater, but wanna make it clear that i'm far from being hip. Should also point out that I agree most people hating on cops is part of the sheepish nature of societies, and people losing their individuality within groups but that doesn't mean A LOT of cops don't deserve it.

- Most people don't know their rights/privileges and a lot of cops take advantage of this. They question people without suspicion or probable cause and while this is fair game, because it's the citizens own ignorance for feeling like they NEED to answer a question or they will be punished, I think it's in poor taste to take advantage of the people paying your salary. They intimidate people unnecessarily to enforce the belief that the law MUST be obeyed and that citizens have no rights or power over police.

- Let's face it, most of these jackoffs don't catch criminals. Most of these jackoffs aren't even looking for the dangerous criminals. They're meeting their quotas by going after small more common crimes like people loitering, or smoking weed. This is a huge reason why potheads hate cops, because they're a direct target of lazy pigs taking the path of least resistance. Got to fill your quota? Go catch some stoners and people running stop signs...

- They lie about having quotas lol. Anybody who knows a cop personally will tell you it's BS. Real cops have them and parking cops have them. It's a business folks, they make money off this shit. If an office makes no arrests in a whole month, how would they know he was doing his job? Maybe he just didn't run into any criminals, or maybe he's a lazy piece of shit. These guys are held accountable through their quotas!

- They hate their jobs. The difference between these guys hating their jobs and me hating mine, is that they have weapons and time and time you will see authority figures abuse their power and beat people senseless or beyond the point where there is a need to. How this doesn't make a persons blood boil is beyond me.

Even though they're all just humans like me and you, they're an extension of the governments massive monster cock whose sole ambition is to screw the hard working people in it. Corporations have no nice intentions for you, and the boys in blue might are nothing more than the worlds largest gang (unless we start counting religions, the deaths caused would be a tight one).

Oh and to the people who have had nice run-ins with the cops and think they're just wonderful people, keep in mind organized crime (biker gangs included) has been treating their communities well for a very long time. It's called public relations, if the community like you, they won't think you're bad people who are out to take their money. IF the community likes you, when they hear about how 5 cops just molested and tazed a pregnant lady, they'll think she must've been doing something wrong because "I was just talking to those police officers and they were such nice young men". But when that same organized crime syndicate has you in the crosshairs and decide you owe them money, shit gets ugly and they become your worst nightmare. Cops are no different, but when they come for you and you plead your case, everybody will think the nice cupcake baking pigs are the good guys, and you must've done something wrong.

if you look at the backgrounds of most of the people that say "FUCK THE POLICE", they've most likely had bad experiences with cops due to their own dumbass-ness,and theyre just looking for someone to blame other then themselves

ive had horrifying experiences with police, and pleasant ones actually. Cops let me keep my stash (a 1/4), and cops also dislocated my shoulder....but to say FUCK ALL POLICE is ignorant as hell to say, even if i dont agree with their choice in profession.

Nobody should be given the power over anyone else's life, even if at times we believe it to be absolutely necessary. The only difference between the cop and me is the uniform, and for some reason our society let that be enough to govern citizens lives.

 

But no one hates the Judges that decide the outcome/penalty for the arrest. The police enforce the laws that the people we elect put in place. Do you hate every person in the military because Congress declares a war that you disagree with? Do you hate the social workers that give away money and food stamps to the people that lie to qualify for them? The store clerk that collects taxes from you when you check out? All teachers because one does something un-ethical? Just because someone upholds the rules of society does not mean they believe in them. Do you agree with EVERY duty you have in your profession?
You're for the most part(there are bad people in every profession) mad at the wrong people.

Isn't this in effect what most people do? Its the way a society works best. If it were the case we would not need as many officers of the law or the blood sucking lawyers.
