I'd probably play the REmake for the gamecube if you have one.

..much like Devil May Cry.
If you can deal with the aforementioned, I'd say go for it.

Even played the first one, but never finished it... I would recommend to play remake of it.
My fav is RE4 & RE3, but others are amazing too!

You'd be better off playing silent hill then resident evil.
You deserve +rep from a Silent Hill veteran of 13 years.

I just got the Silent Hill HD collection for the ps3. I had forgotten just how creepy the second one was, and now that it's in HD and 5 point surround it's even worse. My wife had to take it away from me after I started having constant nightmares. That game is fucking awesome. You deserve +rep from a Silent Hill veteran of 13 years.

RE4 is best if you want more action and a good scare every now and then. Avoid 5, it's a laughable excuse for a RE game. Nothing about it was scary or tense like the others.

To be honest the only resident evil games that disappointed me were the knock-offs on the ps2.
I'd probably play the REmake for the gamecube if you have one.
What knock offs, occupant wicked perhaps ?

Oh, and yeah you'd better get used to being somewhere in the middle of the game, with no health, maybe 4 bullets, and you gotta limp your ass to safety! oh the memories
The games aren't really in chronological order. It's really weird how the stories go together. I can't remember exactly it's been so long, I think Resident evil 3 somehow happens before Resident Evil 2
P.S. I swear I've NEVER played a game with such shit controls.. okay, /endrant

I am an old school Resident Evil Veteran, and I MUST tell you that up until R.E. 4. the fucking controls are S H I T ! ! ! ! and they are just a BITCH to get used to. So, plan on dying because you can't get away from the assholes because the controls are fucked. But other than that, those games are great.

Actually, RE2 and RE3 take place within hours of each other.
RE2's first half is set about 2 hours before RE3 begins. RE2's second half is about an hour after Jill escapes Raccoon City. Cause along the way, if you're observant enough, you'll notice tidbits where Jill's adventures went near where Leon's/Claire's travels took them.
Really interesting that they never ran into each other, that could've been quite an awesome scene if you saw Leon/Claire and Jill battling it out with Nemesis.
Also, I think the "schoolbus handling" controls added to the suspense. Knowing if you weren't prepared to run away you'd get cornered and then killed. Although I could get how the controls could be interpreted as shitty
