XP also used to take FOREVER to install updates with very little status on how far along it was. It would just sit at a certain percentage forever and then all of a sudden be finished.

I prefer XP. It's much more tweak friendly, whereas Win7 is a regular prison before you beat it into the ground.
Do explain, please
Not trying to start an argument but I'm wondering. I've had no problem with modding 7

Windows XP is by far my favorite operating system. I guess it might be the fact that it's what I've always used/owned, at least for the past 8 years or so. What is so good about windows 7 that xp couldn't do?
I for one, agree with jim. Windows 7 is a fantastic operating system, but XP has been perfected, it's the ol' faithful of operating systems. On windows 7, my IE will crash all the time, and I can see my windows xp, dusty in the corner, laughing at me..

IE was always bad, still is. You have so many other options man. Why the hell would you put yourself through that.

I like the basic layout of XP. I don't play games, I can watch 1080p videos with my graphics card. I can play music, burn cds, watch youtube videos, download at 1MB/s AND watch 1080p videos at the same time... There's honestly no reason for me to upgrade. I can have like 20 tabs open, download a movie, and also watching a movie and it puts my CPU load around 70-80%.
I like how there aren't that many processes running. I have like a max of 35 running. My computer boots in less than a minute so no problem there. No problem with driver support or any of the sort. This is my desktop, simple yet effective. I don't need fancy looking graphics, I prefer the old school look.
EDIT: My moms laptop has 7 and so do my school computers so I am more than competent with it. I've also used vista a lot. Once I get my new comp I will probably have 7 but honestly I might just erase 7 and use xp again.

I skipped Vista and my new lappy came with Windows 7.
Personally I think Windows 7 is much better than XP.
As said before, if you game, you get more compatibility just because that's business.
It's more secure. I don't they're making anymore SP's for XP.
So you should upgrade if you haven't.

I'm not talking about modding, but tweaking (Like disabling the UAC). The steps you have to go through on win7 to "unlock it" are much more sophisticated compared to winxp and there are a lot of cases where winxp was faster. I won't use it anymore though since it is out of date.
Please continue using XP. All of those awesome vulnerabilities!
Bet you're feeling really safe behind your silly AV and FW. If the professionals can't even keep the hackers out, then what makes you think you stand even a tiny chance if you have something they want?

Lol? Its pretty easy to secure your system. internet ---> OpenBSD invisible firewall --->router with its own firewall ----> ----> computers (that are fully upgraded and have THEIR own firewalls)
Dont use WEP, dont put any device on there thats infected. Secure keys. You're good to go.
This isn't a Hacker movie. They can't just do whatever the fuck they want
