What seriously makes you think theres a god? or some dude with a beard who walked on water? ahahh like ...are you fucking serious?

are you really that naive and think when we die we go to "heaven" a place where everything is perfect?

*do you guys remember your life before you were born? well guess what, when you die it will be exactly like that. no time will exist nothing but darkness and nothingness.

why would you think otherwise? because of some book written? when monkeys die u think they go to heaven then why do we when we evolved from primates?

its just humanitys way to try and accept death and make death more bearable but come on we just need to preach love (do need to give props for religion preaching good things, but religious differences cancel this out with religious wars throughout history killing millions so yeah nevermind its all hyprocritical)

idk man if someone says their a christian or something ill be like cool and then move on, but i just think about these thoughts everytime.

JUST LIKE HOW PROPAGANDA AND TRADITION HAS PPL THINKING MARIJUANA IS BAD AND EVIL, PEOPLE HAVE BEEN BRED AND RAISED TO BELIEVE IN A DEITY

So do you feel like a better man for ridiculing others beliefs?
Does pointing out what you believe to be others faults feel full filling?
Does forcing your way on others help you feel complete?
Acting like you have all the answers must be very fulfilling.
I guess you do not live by the belief of to each there own.
I feel very sorry for you.

no, to all of the above. i want to be altruistic and help people, i want people to understand they are wasting their lives and every sunday and every prayer on something that is not true, yes they are gaining hope but on something that does not exist.

i feel like i have an obligation to be like cmon people seriously? just live your life to the fullest be happy but understand what religion is first.

i guess it just annoys me that people are dumb like this, i just dont know...

because ive seen the best and nicest people die, and their death brought nothing good but extreme pain. innocent people and terrible things that happen everyday. its all science, some people are fucked in the head, if u fall off a cliff you die, its ASTOUNDING that people believe in religion that some diety can control peoples fate or that everything happens for a reason.

i swear to god if that bible was never written and someone else started religion in todays age people would put the guy in an insane asylum, i know there has been religion forever but that is because we were once feeble minded and awestruck by the stars, thinking our planet was the center of the universe and if you flew past the skies ud reach the heaven.

ignorance created religion and to think otherwise you are ignorant.

and thanks for your witty remarks i hope you feel great, but unless god comes to me in a dream or real life i will live my life with my family and friends and not filled with some stupid illusion that god will ultimately save me and lead me to salvation.

And maybe Christians say the same about you? Maybe they think its really dumb (well, they might say 'unholy' or 'un-righteous') that you live without a (their) god in your life.

So tell me, who is more correct?

I don't favor any particular deity and I guess you could say that I "live my life to the fullest" (everybody say YOLO :metal:) but when people go back and forth talking about other people's beliefs, its a fruitless and practically inconsequential conversation.

Perhaps I could say your same argument to you? Why are you wasting time telling people that you think they are wasting their time? It doesn't make sense in that context

Besides, maybe there is a god, maybe there isn't. Nobody truly knows, so why do people feel the need to talk factually about this issue?

Thinking you have the answers to the unknowable regardless of which side you're on is rather silly.

Whether you're sure there is no god, or gods, or you're sure there is a god or gods... when you limit yourself like that you're losing out on a lot of thought provoking science/spirituality.

Exactly. This debate is solely limited to "I believe God is real" and "I don't believe god is real". Its all beliefs because these questions have no basis in fact and no way to prove or disprove. Just accept what is

Of the two sides though the religious one does make me laugh the most. It's hard to laugh at an anti-god person who is just anti-god. It's easy to laugh at a pro-god person who wants to cut your dick skin for god.

Just because you are "pro-god", doesn't mean you want to circumcise your child for God. Non religious people get circumcised too, makes no difference for what reason you do it.

I don't go to Church every sunday, I don't waste time, I live my life to the fullest. I believe in God. That doesn't mean I've done anything wrong, and that I'm stupid, or any of that other bullshit. It just means I believe in something that you can't mentally comprehend or agree with. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion/beliefs.

Of course believing in god doesn't make everyone want to cut their child's dick skin, but some do, and as that's the case I'll laugh about it.

I also find it funny, since according to religion, we were created in the image of God/Jesus or whatever, so why would that mean you should cut off a piece of your penis, if we are perfectly created in the image of God?

Makes no sense.

But please, don't include wacky religious beliefs in with those of Christian beliefs, because Christianity is just about morals, and what's right and wrong. It doesn't tell you to kill anyone, harm anyone, or affect anyone. Really, it's harmless and should be considered a good thing, because it teaches you to do GOOD.

I'm not here to fight religion... but your take on Christianity doesn't represent all Christianity. Plenty of Christians throughout history and still to this day want other people dead.

I grew up in a Lutheran Church and it was all about helping people. That's great, that's wonderful, but that's only a small segment of the religion as a whole. I'm sure most Christians want to help others. But to say Christianity is flat out harmless is silly. What about anti-homosexual Christians who want nothing more than to see the gays removed from their society?

The God of Abrahamic religions is not the only definition of "God". A pantheistic view of God, as found in Hinduism, and some would say in Mahayana Buddhism, defines "God" as the collective whole of all matter, energy and space everywhere. God therefore is not some separate entity, it does not judge, or think, or act - it is simply the ebbing and flowing One - where everything is integral to the whole.

The benefit of this view of "God" is that if everything is truly One, than a logical response to all things would be selflessness. All religious institutions, however distorted through time, seem to be expressing this same truth of a united reality, and from that realization flows an intrinsic morality of selfless action, charity, love, gratefulness.

"Where there is no selfishness there can only be selflessness".

"Love is simply Unity expressing itself."

To the thread starter...I used to think the whole God thing was silly too at first.

But when you come to a point in your life where you really question your existence and search for meaning in life, the existence of a creator starts to make a bit of sense.

At that point, its up to you if you want to open your heart and mind to seek further. I studied Jesus and his teachings and now I believe Jesus was Gods way of reaching out to us.

There seems to be a reason we question our existence and search for meaning in life.

In the end, respect other peoples beliefs. We arent dumb, you arent telling us anything we dont know. Your aggressive approach isnt really going to change anyones mind.
