How to make friends in grasscity or any other forum?

Ok, so every time I have a long vacation away from certain friends and certain types of human interaction, I decide that I want to make friends online. I always go to chats, but always obtain the same result; I meet brainless people and end up losing some faith for the human race.
My best friend always recommended me to look into forums, but I always had an excuse not to. Now that I found this forum that I really like, I ask myself how exactly do you make friends? How do you transition from the Facebook mentality into a more intelligent way of socializing through this forum?

As anywhere online, you're gonna run into your share of...ummm...how do I put this nicely...people you don't want to be friends with...

Try pick out a few sub forms that you are interested in...check out who posts in them, and join a thread or two that has people posting in that you would like to get to know...

I've been lucky, I've formed some really good friendships on here...there are lots of good people on here...

It usually just happens. U gotta be active in the forum and people will run into u and vise versa. Pick a sub-forum that u like more. For me it's gamers heartbeat and music hall.

It's rather simple really. Use correct grammar and punctuation, and don't be an asshole.
