Cutting edge solutions yield vs. Advanced nutrients

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by purplfarm, Jun 6, 2012.

  1. people swear by cutting edge solutions nutrient line. im curious has anyone finished a crop with CES? i've seen a few forums where people claimed a very low yield compared to AN. any thoughts on this? the guy at the shop sold me on the CES line and i purchased part of it. after checking the reviews im having second thoughts and considering returning it in exchange for the AN line.
any thoughts on cutting edge would be very helpful as there is endless info on AN. from what i can tell people have had great luck with CES in veg, and great taste and potency, but a very low yield???

    thanks in advance!:D

  2. bump.
no experience with cutting edge solutions out there??

Threads like this just only brings trouble with the sensitive growers here !

Sorry you will have better response if you show us what Cutting Edge can do and what Advanced Nutrients cannot do against C.E. and the forum will take it from there. Right now is just another "Boxing Ring for EXTREME FANATICS of each Company"

But for the sake of it. I think A.N rocks the House and is the most cheapest nutrients in the world tailored to grow MJ.

Now wait and see what happens ... lol

  5. Gotcha;)
my thread introduction should have read:

I'm seeking opinions on Cutting Edge Solutions nutrients in regards to yield weight, potency and #1 flavor. I've heard others state that their yields were low compared to using other reputable nutrient brands. Anyone out there have any luck with CES compared to other reputable brands?
(this thread is meant to provide honest information on Cutting Edge Solutions. Please refrain from using other brand names in this thread and instead use terms like "other reputable brands.)"

    Better? =)

  6. ...this is my first "solo" grow btw so i'm working alone.

Can you read the Thread Title again ? I just mention the same Company you mentioned ...

  8. tried to change it but it won't let me. i guess i'm hoping someone can actually be an adult about it at this point so i don't have to start another thread.
first thread. first post here. (begs for mercy)

    (ahem)
    ...now about cutting edge nutrients??

  9. LOL - indeed.

No I like AN, no I like blah blah....

I personally don't have any experience with the CES nutrients, nor have I heard of them, but I'd be interested in hearing more. Though I'm not sure I'm ever going to switch from AN. :D

  10. ive been researching...CES is from northern cali. family owned. ive heard good things about the way they do business (no i am not affiliated with CES in any way). my local hydro shop just did a side by side run against AN. they claim CES outgrew AN. this peaked my interest in CES. since ive heard nothing but great reviews. ive decided to give CES a run! i just finished putting together my room. i divided a room with a frame, some drywall and a sliding glass arcadia door. one side for grow and the other just a regular room. the grow section has a closet for veg. after a good fungicide and bleach spray down ive been testing my room. steady 77 degrees. humidity is low where i live (27%) so ive been misting the room to keep levels up. i made a solution of 1/5 strength (i believe in less is better) nutrient water for my deep water culture system. ph is about 5.9. water temp is 72 degrees. yesterday i picked up one rooted cutting that was in SOIL. got it home, pulled it out and very gently broke up the soil and removed the roots the best i could. transplanted in to a net pot with hydrotin and into the solution it went. just 24 hours later the plant has taken off. yesterday it was sickly looking. today it is thriving. i swear the roots already grew an inch. in a day or so i'll bump the nutrient solution up to 1/4 strength and and then again slowly up to half strength. since theres not much info on cutting edge out there ill be posting my experience.
***ill just put this out there...if i were to receive some samples of AN id be happy to run one bucket with AV for a real side by side grow test. but for now its all CES for me=) im hoping i dont end up kicking myself for not going AV!! haha
all comments are welcome. especially from anyone with CES experience!

  11. CES is an awesome product if any one needs to know.I just joined and will be around I have got 3 grows under my belt with it ... best I've used easy and cheap and you can use HG nute line with it.. so it can't get any better.. CES even if you don't flush has a great taste ..I'm saying this because Advanced Nute if you don't flush really really really good it taste like your grandmothers basement or an aquarium and smells like it taste .....but always looks beautiful ...i try to tell my friend who uses Adavanced Nutes about the yucky none flushed taste and he tells me he flushed it can't argue with a grower...don't want to hurt any feeling but CES is by far a more superior product and cheaper and yeilds as much as Advanced nutes but with a much bettersmoke ....I can answer more questions about Cutting edge Sultions

----the only way to get better is to listen , pay attention and learn that your way may not be the best way ...we are artist grow learn achieve ..

Why you or your friend would not flush in first place ? Is plain harmful if you use chemical fertilizer ?

I ask becuase it sounds like you have done it more than once.

  13. I flush always and have been for the past few years ....my friend not so much... his bud is crap and taste like basement aquarium bud ...I'm not here to argue about if I flush my plants ...this is the reason i never got in a forum ..I've done so many different experiments when I first started growing that yes I have grown with out flushing on few plants...are you the flush police. My stuff is great always high reviews on taste smell and cure I'm a ninja with patience ..but back to the point so people can know ....CES is great any questions on that I have 2 1/2 -3 years using there product ..

Sorry, I'm not the flush police. However my question comes from your own original comment and quoted for a reason. You mention about tasting good even if is not flush. I can deduct from that type of comment flush is not a big issue for you guys. However if you always flush, you flush, why give the heads up about not flushing and still taste great.

    Is plain harmful

Thought this thread was about CES vs AN?..Anyhoo, my experience is only with CES and only with their pH down..It rocks!!.IMO...Or was that AN pH down that rocks, shit I forget!..
    Ok, I'm outta here now!.

Yep it's AN for sure..Had to double check my bottle..I've had it so long(highly concentrated) I forgot..
Ok, now I'm really outta here, ciao!..

  18. Test it yourself try it on your grow if you dont like it then buy a different line next grow you only get knowledge from experience

  19. Yeah, I flush because I can tell the difference in the taste, and it's worth it to me. Plus, you get a growth boost at the end somehow...

I use Final Phase by Advanced Nutrients, but I've also just flushed with water in the last two weeks. Totally worth the extra effort.

As for taste, some people can't tell a difference, so that's cool too.

Personal preference, but for MMJ, I flush all the time.

  20. thanks for your replies everyone! yes, i would love to see pics of your CES grow. and any advise would be greatly appreciated. im a newbie to dwc and CES. having one heck of a time nailing down my ppm's. any advice as to what additives ill be needing with CES during veg/flower? im running CES 3 part micro, grow, bloom along with cal mag and a little rapid start. have uncle johns blend but from what i understand i dont need it until flowering. also have plant amp but im a little uneasy about the whole "dont adjust the low ph" when using Plant Amp.
here's another thread where i describe some of my issues...http://forum.grasscity.com/hydropon...ng-edge-solutions-pros-cons.html#post15155957
i really want to love CES but right now my plants are a little light colored. how do i get that dark, lush green growth im after?? room temp is 78, water temp is around 70, humidity is fairly low around 20%. lots of airflow. ive been changing the light from 1000 to 600 (hps) to try and regulate stress. the plants seem to like 1000 better.
also had a root problem due to light getting in buckets and warm water but that has been remedied. lots of new root growth now.
    slowly inching towards perfection;)
