Marijuana Morning sickness, Cannabinoid Hyperemesis. My experience

Discussion in 'General' started by 1nfection, Jun 1, 2012.

  1. I have just been diagnosed with a relatively newly discovered syndrome, Cannabinoid Hyperemisis syndrome. I am just wanting to spread the word, because of all the suffering I've been going through the past 6 months. I would wake up alot of mornings feeling nauseous, or vomiting, with horrible crampy abdominal pain. I've been to the hospital 12 times, just because sometimes the vomiting and abdominal would be horrible, I'd vomit until I had no more to throw up, resulting in hours of painful dry heaving until I drank something to make myself throw up. The only thing that ever worked to keep me out of hospitals was a hot bath, but even then there would be symptoms that weren't touched by the soothing, hot bath. The pain was barely touched by morphine, and nausea that was resitant to all anti-nausea medications, including zofran, supposedly the best anti-nausea meds out there. The doctors tell me its a vicious circle, because many smokers learn that marijuana has an anti-nausea and pain relieving effects. So they smoke more weed, to feel better, but little do they realize that the marijuana is whats doing it to them. I really want the word spread so anybody thats suffering like this, can quit smoking marijuana for relief. Many times, before 2004 people who smoked marijuana and had cannabinoid hyperemesis, were diagnosed with cyclical vomiting syndrome, because the symptoms are exactly the same except that cannabinoid hyperemesis can be relieved sometimes by a hot bath. The first time i went to the hospital I yelled at the top of my lungs at the nurses for a hot bath, almost getting violent. I lost 2 great jobs, you know, 50k a year out of highschool, and it kills me to know somebody may be suffering with this and not know all they have to do to cure it is cut down alot, or completely cessate. So please, share this thread, and if you go to other marijuana communities, share this link. http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabinoid_hyperemesis_syndrome

    Your a pansy.

  3. Your links are not credible.

  4. I saw someone go through this when I was younger...it was gross...and he just kept on smoking, he would vomit after every bong hit. I believe this is true, but I know for a fact that it doesn't happen to everyone. I think only some people are affected this way and it doesn't occur over night. For him it took about 3 years of constant smoking, every damn day.

  5. Bring it on

  6. I sure am a pansy, vomiting to the point to where you feel your stomach trying to turn inside out. However, my links not being credible are absolutely rediculous. Allen is a medical researcher, and I posted his study. the wikipedia, i believe would be uncredible to, however the medical researcher who discovered this in australia and sent his findings to the mayo clinic, where my doctors found out about it, I'm pretty damn sure its credible. I'm not looking for any of your fucking bullshit, if you don't believe this is a real syndrome, keep it to your damn self. my title was not "COME IN MY THREAD AND SAY WHAT IVE BEEN SUFFERING FROM FOR 6 MONTHS AND HAD MANY MEDICAL TESTS COME UP NEGATIVE FOR ANYTHING IS BULLSHIT AND IT DIDNT GO AWAY WHEN YOU CUT DOWN" My experience is real. Not many people suffer from it, its caused by a build up of tolerance, after years of chronic use, and within the last decade marijuana use has risen exponetially, making this show up more in ER rooms. I've had doctors call me everything from crazy, to addicted to heroin, to needing my appendix out, and I've been through alot of pain because of this. So for you to come in here and disrespect me because you think marijuana has no ill effects on anyone ever, and just dont want to believe it, keep it to your damn self.

  7. Isn't that, literally like...One in a million chances, though?

I've heard of this, knew a girl that suffered from this...Every time she smoked she ended up pukin' the whole night to the point of exhaustion.

But, you literally...have to be a dark spot in the universe to suffer from hyperemesis.

  8. It sounds like they really don't know what's wrong with you.

Which happens to be exactly what 'cannabis hyperemesis' covers; it's generally used as a blanket statement for "we don't know, therefor, it must be the pot... even though man has been smoking and eating it for thousands of years, and 99% of heavy users don't suffer these consequences or symptoms".

Whatever the reason though, you're clinging to this idea. That being said, keep in mind that there are PLENTY of people with unexplained digestive disorders similar to, and worse than your own, who have never even touched cannabis.

If you are having a reaction with your endocannabinoid system, which causes violent or painful symptoms to occur from regular cannabis use, then you NEED to find the actual cause and source.. simply cutting back on a potential trigger is hardly even a band-aid, let alone a cure.

Just because it causes your symptoms to lay dormant or go unnoticed, it doesn't mean that you're healthy or safe.

Cannabinoids interact with our endocannabinoid system and receptors, our endocannabinoid system is responsible for our nervous system health, metabolism, appetite, digestion and more, just to name a few we're concerned with here... if you have 'crossed wires' or misfiring signals of any kind, then manually adjusting your endocannabinoid system too much, or even at all, can cause consequences.

A negative reaction to cannabis in terms of digestion, can be an early warning for anything from: a liver/gastrointestinal disease, to tumors of (or even simply a sign of past damage to), the medulla oblongata.

Stimulating damaged regions of the body, can have consequences.

'If it hurts, don't do it!'

    However...

There is something minor, to seriously wrong with your body, and hopefully, in a few years, when things become little less biased and a larger volume of less discriminatory research has been done, scientists will be able to find whatever disorder, or range of disorders, can cause these reactions for the very, very few people who suffer the symptoms of what is currently known as 'cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome'.

Until then, keep an eye on your body, note any changes, eat healthy and make sure you have a balanced diet with some variety, and see specialists at the first sign of any distress PARTICULARLY with your cognitive function, or with 'evacuation'.

    Good luck!

  9. You are not alone. This is real. FUCK the people that don't believe you. If they aren'tsick and they love pot they won't accept it took me forever to accept that I just can't smoke. I have been through it all with the vomiting had every test in the world. But I quit smoking for a year to get a job. No more vomiting. If you would like to talk figure out how to PM me and I will send you my email and twitter. I have a list of quite a few of us. STAY STRONG you are NOT a pansy. Let that person puke for 24 hours straight and see how big of a man he is. Also, it is not just taking a hit and then puking, it builds in your system and happens at times you aren't smoking like out of a sound sleep. I got you back. And I'm no shill I love the plant and all it does. I also still think it should be legal esp medical mj. All meds have side effects.

  10. Obvious troll is obvious, precisely why he had to create another new name to "support" his side.

10 years of smoking for me, 8 or 9 of those years multiple time daily use. I've had no negative impacts on my health that are noticeable. I also use it for pain, as I have a medical card.

  12. This all seems boaringly simple to me.

If your have these symptoms, stop smoking weed. If they go away, great!

If you begin to smoke again, and the symptoms come back - it is likely the weed that is causing it, so stop smoking.

What's the big deal? Isn't that the same with EVERY substance. Some people can't eat nuts.

  13.
This is a real condition. Granny has even posted about it before.
Who cares if she has posted about it? It doesn't mean that its as rampant that OP says. Just because Granny is knowledgeable about a lot of issues regarding marijuana and MMJ, it doesn't make EVERYTHING she posts valid and accepted. I deal with a LOT of patients who smoke daily and have smoked daily for 25 years, yet they have never ran into this issue.

Am I saying its not possible? No. But I'm saying that 99% of the users of marijuana aren't going to ever be affected by this. I don't think that this is the OP's problem, I think the doctors gave up on him and threw a diagnosis.

Also, more credible links would have helped OP.

  14. Explain how this is trolling..?? Ive read about this before too, just because you are a person who has experienced no problems from smoking doesn't make that true for everyone.

Oh jee, because I'm SURE someone created an account simply to make this thread THEN another person made an account and posted their only post in here to support the OP.

Obviously reasonable deduction would lead you to believe they are one in the same, because this thread has potential to cause a shit storm.

As for me not experiencing problems, I handle a lot of patients in the medical marijuana field.. yet I've NEVER seen a single case of this.

I'll believe my personal experience and knowledge over a wiki page.

  16. To the OP, I am the world's second biggest skeptic and doubt both your claim and the echo posted by Meme2712 (who I'd bet would be you, logged into a new account just to bolster your argument). My feeling is you are a troll with an anti MMJ agenda and randomly posting here and elsewhere to spread the seeds of doubt. On it's face value it is preposterous; an anti-emetic that induces vomiting, but logic and reasoning don't always go hand in hand. An unlikely strategy at best, trying to win converts in a predominately pro forum; however I sense a more sinister motive for it. Feeling that anecdotal evidence is all that is used by the general populace, once posted this remains in the back of everyone's mind and makes them question the harmlessness of weed.

  17. THis is not the same person. I have posted about this in other forums I am just tried of having to sign up so I used a different name. MOST people wont be affected you are right, but for those of us that have been going through this for 20 years with no answers we appreciate knowing. Ans yes it is like anything you should stop. But when it is something you love a little too much. Its not as easy. But yes he needs to quit long enough to get it all out of his system to see if he gets better. It is the hot showers that make the Dr think its the weed. Not me I am a little different I also have Cyclic Vomiting that I had well before I ever started smoking. But never so severe and so often and when I smoked every day all day. Don't let these hard headed pot is the best and nothing could possibly be wrong with it people discourage you. Try to quit and see if you get better. Puking forever is the worst feeling I ever have and I have had some serious surgeries.

i am not the op ! My real name is amyrose2712 i still advocate for mmj and will never stop. There is nothing sinister. Stop being so paranoid. My goal is if you suffer with this and smoke maybe you wanna look into it. That is all. If you dont suffer i envy you beyond belief. And yes the caps are yelling cause i'm sick of people denying this. I know and i know it to be true. I don't know the op and dont know if he is for real. I just know what i have been through. Oh and about an anti-emitic causing vomiting being preposterous, just think of the anti-depressants that cause suicidal thoughts. The body and brain are amazing and not all well understood.

  19. Well you suck as reasoning. I have a mail alert for "cannabanoid hyperemeisis" and when ever it is mentioned I get notified. That is why I made the account I am sick of people like you. Are you a DOCTOR. Cause if you you are you would have access to medical journals regarding this. I have talked to some of the TOP GIs in the US regarding this and they seem to know. I would love your credentials please.
