Hey, I have been looking into/researching how to grow cannabis to be potent, but it all looks extremely difficult and expensive. First off, there's setting up a room, and then lights and other expensive items. I have ten acres of property, so I have plenty space to build a shed. I'd like to know how to set up a room that could grow around 12 plants, and how much it would cost to make it. I'd also like to know how to keep the smell from getting out. Thanks:D

Im a little confused.....growing in a shed is still indoors (unless you mean a greenhouse), and you will still need all the things that an indoor grow requires PLUS the cost of the shed. On top of that, how will you get power to the shed for lights, fans, etc? With all that land, why not just grow outdoors?

This isnt a cheap hobby, but there are ways to keep it simple and minimize some costs depending on how resourceful/handy you are. I am about to harvest my first grow, 5 plants in 4x4 tent under 600w of light. I got everything (and i mean everything i needed, including seeds, tent, nutes, filters, fans, etc) for less than $600. This could be brought down further by not buying seeds (using bagseed), using cfl lighting (not nearly effective, but cheap), making homemade carbon filter rather than buying, etc.

Check my journal for a look at my setup, it is pretty simple but very effective.

I agree with Shova, you should start off on a smaller scale. A medium sized grow tent wouldn't cost too much to set up and will provide some much needed experience for more complex grow ops in the future.

It's indoors, but separate from my house, that's what I'm getting at. There still are people out there that think weed is a bad thing. My family is full of handy people. They can build a good room for sure. My brother-in law is an electrician, and my step father (whom I have a great relationship with) is great at building. Of course, I'd be paying for materials that we don't already have, but I'd like to make a building big enough to fit that many.
I'm gonna practice with 3 or 4, but I'd like to know how much it'd cost to make a room with a good setup (i.e. mylar, strong lights, electricity, etc)

Try reading through the grow room design section....you'll likely have more luck over there.

My best advice before you build make sure you given enougg for room for both plants and you. you want to be comfortable if you don't wanna be jumping in between trees and bushes and squeezing between everything.
Set up a workstation somewhere in the room or connected to you will be glad you did

Alright :) It'll will be in a small town, too, but I'm just so damn paranoid. I don't ever want to find out a neighbor is 100% anti-pot, while having a grow room. Plus, I don't trust the neighbors that much, and so I'd like it to be super top secret. How would one keep a room in the right conditions to grow (temperature/humidity/lighting) and save cash?
