So with my last seedling dying on me I'm being way more cautious with this one. Its an Afghan Kush Ryder, just sprouted on Monday so its 5 days old today. Its growing everyday, but the stem is what has me worried. I read that a purple stem can be genetics, or it can be a nutrient deficiency. I know the pH in the soil is kind of high, but i just got my pH up/down in the mail today so i will be correcting that in the next few waterings. Here is a picture, what do you guys think? (not sure why i can't upload the image, my bad for the large pic)

yes, I did google it. Thats where I read that it could be genetics or nutrient deficiency (phosphorous). Just seeing what you all thought about this particular seedling. Thanks for the help though.

Purple stripes are a genetic trait, solid purple areas on a main stalk are signs of a deficiency. Your plant is way to young to have either going right now. The two small round leaves contain all the food the plant needs untill it gets its second to third set of 3 bladed leaves. It looks fine to me sofar.

Purple stems are perfectly normal for seedlings. Nothing at all to worry about.

I see little purple ones sprout all the time. Leaflets look fine, which is what you want to pay attention to. You already have new growth in the center so that's good to see... the plant is on its journey.

...also, those low leaves that your plant is feeding off of a bit right now will eventually (typically) die off at least after it's grown a few nodes. Just means your girl is growing up.

That's normal, and it happens on other species of plants too. Nothing to worry about my friend. Good luck with your grow!

I was gunna say that, someone told me it might be because of cooler temperatures. All of the one's I'm growing right now started with purple stems. Some of them have purple under the leaves now.

That's a healthy happy sprout it's just super young. Give it nothing but water for the next three weeks
