It took me a couple days to get this written due to being busy and also due to the fact that I really needed to calm my nerves about what had happened just a few nights ago. This will be a long story so if you don't have the time or patients you should probably leave now, there won't be a TL;DR at the bottom.

So I have a son, he's 6 months old. Good napper, good night time sleeper, sleeps almost 12 hours at night. Well Sunday he would NOT nap, I mean he slept maybe an hour the whole day which he usually sleeps 6 hours at least, and that hour was on top of me not in his crib. If you left him alone he would SCREAM and I mean SCREAM. My husband and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Needless to say by bedtime he was exhausted but he still wouldn't sleep. He would fall asleep and wake up crying, then fall back asleep.

Well my husband is on 3rd shift so at 9:30 at night he leaves for work leaving me alone in our very old house until he comes home at 7:30 am. Now I'm a scardy cat, I get scared very easily and I THOUGHT I had encountered spirits before, but from what happened Sunday night, I don't think I've ever encountered something quite like this.

So my son woke up about 10... took me an hour and a half to get him back to sleep. So 11:30 I head off to bed, I lay down and I instantly start feeling like something is touching me all over my body. I get this heavy feeling that something is in the room with me and I can't shake it. I have 4 cats, one of which is ALWAYS in the room when I go to bed, but none of the cats would come into the room, which was odd because their food is in there. So I'm alone with this feeling and none of the cats would come into the room to comfort me. They knew something was off, they wouldn't even go upstairs to the "attic" (it's more like a 3rd bedroom but it's the only room on the 2nd floor and it's mostly used for storage and their littler box). And the "attic" is attached to my bedroom, I can see the stairwell through a cracked door in the bedroom, and we always keep one light on up there so the cats can see.

I'm trying to sleep, but this feeling is overwhelming. I took a meletonin (a natural pill to help induce sleep I take nightly) a little earlier and it was kicking in, I finally nodded off, facing the door to the "attic". I couldn't have been asleep for very long before I felt something push down on the other side of my pillow, as if someone was laying next to me. I jumped and heard a crash like something had fallen, the light to the "attic" was off. Freaked out and in complete darkness (the light upstairs acts as a nightlight for me) I run out of the room. Nothing had fallen that would have created the crash, and all 4 cats are in the livingroom together. I grab cat treats and a lightbulb and shake the treat bag so the cats come with me upstairs. I used my phone as a flash light, fixed the light, gave the cats treats, and went back downstairs.

Still with this feeling of uneasyness and a heavy feeling surrounding the air, I lay back down into bed. It is now only 12:15 at night, I had only been asleep maybe 5 minutes before all this happened. The cats finish their treats and one by one leave the "attic" as they walk into my room I try calling to them for one of them to sleep in the bed with me, if they can sleep then I know nothing is happening, our cats seem to be in tune with the things going on around us that we don't pick up on. But none, not even my cat that I had raised since his birth, would sleep or stay in the room with me.

Reluctantly I try to sleep again. I hear more crashes from things falling and more unexplained noises. I've lived in this old house for over a year, and I know the difference between what the normal sounds this house makes, and the ones that it doesn't make. I hear the baby monitor, my son is crying again, he stops and puts himself to sleep. I try to get to sleep, and finally do. I don't know how long I was asleep before I felt something grab my wrist tightly which jerked me out of my sleep. Nothing was there, no marks on my wrist, and no cats to be found. My son cries again.

More crashes, I go to sleep, I get woken up about 6 more times from my son crying, and 6 more times I'm left with a heavy feeling of something watching me, and waiting for me to sleep. So needless to say I got no sleep, and neither did my son. When he finally wakes up at 6 am I look around the house to see what had fallen, there was nothing. No pictures, nothing in the bathtub and fallen down, nothing off my husband's desk, I mean everything was normal, I still have no idea what the crashes were.

The next day my son was fine, acting normal, napping normal, was fine to be alone by himself. My husband, who's very in tune with things like this, said he would walk around and see if he felt anything or if he felt that anything was there. Now when I get scared, he does this, he walks around where I say I've experienced something, and I've never gotten anything other than "I don't feel anything". I figured it was because he didn't want to scare me and it was a way to ease my fear, but this time he said that there was definitaley something there last night, but it was gone now. He thinks whatever was there was drawn to us because down stairs (two person home we live upstairs they live downstairs) they have taken in the man's old mother who is sick and about to die. He thinks whatever it was was drawn by the death in the air that's filling the house at the moment. If THAT didn't make me feel any better.

We think, because babies are more instinctual than thought based much like animals, that our son somehow knew that there was something wrong. Which is why he didn't want to be alone, and was crying constantly while he was sleeping at night, too tired to wake up, but too awake to ignore what was going on.

The next night my cat slept with me all night, didn't ever move, so whatever was there, is gone for now. But I've never experienced something on that level before. I don't know if it was the death in the air in this house, or if it was something with malicious intent.

I wanted to share this with ya'll because I've always been a believer but never been a victim. I always thought I had encounters, but I realize now I was paranoid, and this was the real thing. Has anyone else had an encounter? Does anyone else seem to be in tune with that side of the world like my husband claims to be? I know a lot of people believe spirits are a bunch of mumbo jumbo, but after Sunday, there will never be a doubt in my mind again.

Sorry had to do it lol but if it was just one night it probably was not anything IMO. A repeat occurrence might change things but I would not let one night affect you

I don't quite know what to make of this.

I personally have no belief in spirits or the supernatural so its hard for me to give my opinion without seeming like an asshole.

All I know is you encountered some weird shit that night and I can give no viable explanations.

Well spirits can come and go as they please. But my husband who's lived here 5 years has told me he's experienced and saw things, his mother who lived with him for a few months after going through a hard divorce used to sleep in our current bedroom, she stayed there two nights and started sleeping on the couch, she said she saw something walk up the stairs and still won't go into that room alone at night.

My husband's sister while sleeping on the couch woke up to see a "shadow man" as she calls it standing in the archway leading out of the living room one night when she stayed over. She won't sleep here anymore and she's a scary movie buff like my husband so if something scared her that bad I can't dismiss her.

A man died in the room under ours, I think my husband said it was his uncle. But he died of influenza. The woman (my husband's great aunt) downstairs won't stay in the house alone, she calls her daughters or me to hang out with her until her husband gets home, I don't know if she does so now because of her husband's mother staying there all the time and nurses going in and out during the day.

So while this may be MY first encounter here it's not the only one that has happened. I could name more things that have happened here but I don't want to get into another short story lol.

Nah I'm actually no stranger to sleep paralysis, it actually occurs to me during a certain dream I have, I've had this dream ever since I was like 8 years old and at the end of it I wake up frozen and I have to force myself to breath before I can move again. The last time it happened I was like 15 though, and it's one of the few dreams I can remember when I wake up.

I have seen some scary shit when I wake up from that dream though, and when I can move again it was gone like I was just imagining it, it's a little weird.

Damn, that'd scare the shit outta me, being jerked outta my sleep :/ update us if anything else happens :) I have a story too.

I was camping in Epping forest with two of my friends, D and T. We set up camp, so T, who brought his grandads ashes to scatter, wanted to go do so, so I went with him. We're walking for a good half hour before we realise 1. It's getting dark, fast. And 2. We're lost. Completely. And tuis is a big forest.

We make our way through more of the forest before we find this small country road. This is where shit happened. There's a ditch (maybe a dried-up canal or something) that stretches the whole way down the forest, parallel and separating it from the road, and if that wasn't hard enough, there was a barbed wire fence on the other side. So it's getting darker, we have torches but we really don't wanna get lost in the dark. I leant over the ditch to look out onto the road when it happened.

Let me explain something first. T was a good 15 feet behind me (important for not so obvious reasons), and the bush which I was beside wasn't dense enough to hide anything, light was filtering through everywhere and I could practically see through it. Also there was NO wind, no people, no cars, almost nothing making noises (aside from the natural forest noises). Ok back.

I'm leaning out to look down this road beside a bush while T chills back behind me. Suddenly, from right out of the bush beside me, a soft, low girls voice started speaking. I could tell exactly where it was, precisely, from the bush beside me. I turned around after it'd been speaking for a few seconds (because I looked instantly for the natural cause), and when I turned it stopped. T was about 15 feet behind me, and the voice's volume wasnt NEARLY loud enough to travel to him, it was more of a hushed tone, almost whisperish, so I didn't think he'd heard it. I turned and said "go" because I'd realised what it was. And I was terrified, I'm not ashamed to say it. But i was wrong. T looked as terrified as I felt, and did not hesitate for a second when I said go.

After we put some distance between us and that spot, we talked. I didn't believe he heard it, couldn't believe tbh, so I made him talk first. He said he heard a voice, the same soft, hushed girls voice I heard, but what freaked me out (and confused him) was that he heard it the same volume (an almost whisper) from the exact same spot beside me. (it freaked me out because he COULDN'T have heard it, and confused him because ... Well, he couldn't understand HOW he heard it, it was such a low volume, from so far away, precisely as if it was coming from that exact spot I heard it from). I asked him what he heard and it kinda shocked (and disappointed) me. He paused to recollect, and then said he couldn't remember. As I was busy interrogating him I didn't really give much thought to it, at the time I heard fully formed, fully pronounced words, but I couldn't remember ANYTHING it said. She said. Not a word. I know there'll be a lot of doubters if anyone reads all that lol, but that was my first (certified) paranormal experience. What made it worse was that we had to go back into the forest, shit scared in the pitch dark 

And believe me when I say I searched for whatever natural reason I could to explain it (even mics in the bush), but ... It was something else entirely. Paranormal, supernatural ... And fucking scary. I wasn't high either. Reading through it, I don't have the writing skills to make you feel to same shock and fear and reality of it. It really was something ... Else. I don't know if it was a ghost, spirit, or something along them lines, but it wasn't (and I cant stress this enough) anything natural to our world. Hope you enjoyed, if you read it 

My house was haunted when i was a kid. I think it was a poltergeist as it targeted me alone. Just be glad it's gone and didn't decide to stay.

usually when animals and children are acting funny something is wrong. It may not be supernatural but i always watch the animals.

Sometimes that's just the hollywood definition. A real poltergeist picks a victim and tries to tear them away from everyone elso so they can "have" you to themselves. they usually only appear to their victim so that way they can further isolate you,
