My first batch on March 28th went into flowering, as did my friend's crop from same set of clones.
I pulled them out on May 12th because I didn't think they would finish before reverting back to veg.
I planted more clones on May 12th. My friend did not take his original plants out but planted new ones about a month ago between the first batch.
Both of our new plants also went into flowering.
Here's the interesting part. His original plants have almost reached maturity and should be ready to harvest by next weekend. My original plants looked and smelled pretty good, but I figured they wouldn't make it and turned them into trim for edibles.
Now I feel like an ass.
What is it about southern California that makes year round outdoor growing a possibility?
I originally thought that my particular growing spot, which is partially concealed by the side of my house on one side and an ivy wall on the other, was to blame. But now I have to wonder....is it simply due to putting clones out in southern California weather? I had them on 18/6 and on March 28th, it was about 12/12. On May 12th, it was 14/10. I continue to read conflicting info on how much darkness plants need to flower. I've read as low as 8 can make it happen?
I'd appreciate some thoughts and suggestions as this could be a blessing but also a huge cut into my summer yield. Are my plants going to continue to flower from now until late July? I'm so confused....

It's more about the photo period than anything. If you're going from a veg schedule (18+hrs) down to 12 (or even 14) hours it triggers hormones in the plant telling it that the season has changed and it needs to start being ready to procreate. Once the plant has begun flowering, it will continue to flower unless a significant amount of light is added to it's schedule. This is why your friend's plants are still flowering, because the slow increase of daylight hasn't "sparked' it back into vegetive growth. This does vary by strain however, and some are more or less sensitive than others.
Look into light deprivation for year round growing with control being in your hands instead of nature's.

My next important question: if the increase hasn't "sparked" the plants yet, do they think they will revert in the next four weeks? If not, I have bomb bud coming...

New photos uploaded. Sorry for the wait. Had to secure the info. The bud is from last season in a raised plantar half the size of the one I have now (the two other pics). Am I right in thinking the Pure OG grows fantastic outdoors???

it could be your genetics possibly unless they are proven which it does not sound like they are because you didn't specify, they could be crossed somewhere along the line with an autoflower plant and this is what causes the revert from flower to veg, I had some purple Odyssey like this a few summers back, it would flower in 14hrs of light and then then around 15+ it would veg, you could also do light dep to solve this problem, I myself veg indoors until I am ready to light dep them, so I can control everything not mother nature...look into light dep setup or maybe some better genetics...just my two cents good luck....and there are alot of us on here who thirst for knowledge and leave the sarcasm and bullshit aside, but you will run into a few ruff blades of grass
