I have 4 autos at the end of day 7 kept in a DR90 tent, my fans are both 125 systemair a1/l1 with carbon filter, twin fan speed controller. Light is a 400w metal halide for veg and 400w hps for flower. 3.5 gallon pots with biobizz all mix soil. pics will follow later on when lights are back on.

Thanks....

Pics at day 8!

Stems could do with fattening up a little, I've had a couple of these small fans blowing on them for the last 4 or so days. Do they look normal for 8 day old seedlings... Please comment

thanks..

Nice job man. Everything looks just fine imo. My babes looked very similar to yours around the same time. Look at the pic. Its from one of my Day 8s. (http://forum.grassci...92&d=1337449597)

The next three days you will see the new set of leaves really growing big and wide, and out growing the initial set of leaves. What happens next, i have no idea, but i am expectant.

Good idea on starting the plants in 3.5 gallon pots. No transplanting concerns there.
All in all you have all the makings for a successfull grow - The MH for veg, and HpS for flowering, good soil mix(imo). WHat are you doing about ph levels. Anything or are you going to leave that aspect for the next grow. Im trying to get a ph meter and up/down solutions. It really is a requisite for a good grow.
Hope the 18/6 schedule suits your needs. Im sticking to 24/0 throughout or atleast till the last 2 weeks of flowering.
Will be following your updates. Good luck

Thanks mate it makes me feel better you saying they look good so far. I just lowered my light a little more. I'm trying not to worry to much about my ph. My soil has a buffer I believe it adjusts your water or something. I haven't used any nutes yet but they are the same make as my soil and after reading the instructions it says to ph your water to 7 before adding so I've been bringing it down as it instructs. Be careful if you are using organic soil not to use your standard ph adjuster it will mess your soil up. I have been using a few drops of distilled white vinegar to bring it down from about 7.5 to 7. 18/6 seems to be working for me so far. I was going to gradually up it but was told not to change it...

Good luck to you to mate I will be looking in on your grow...

Temps have been rising with the warm weather outside so I've got my tower fan sat outside my tent with one vent flap open. also had to open all my windows to create a kind of wind tunnel but it's worked for now. God knows what im going to do when it gets warmer tho..Temp is now sitting around 77-78. Humidity has gone up to 42%. Little girls are looking fine and hopefully enjoying the extra air!!

I thought i would have that too worry about to. Gets very hot here in the summer months. Sub tropics. i have my box in an aircooled room, and the temps in the grow area fluctuates between 76 and 84, staying nearer the middle at 80 most of the time.
From what i read that should be fine. Its warmer than ideal, but i believe a bit of extra warmth is easy for plants to adapt to.

Your grow box looks sweet you got plenty room in that bad boy... I think my prob is the building I live in is poorly insulated an heats up fast. Wer having an early heat wave at the min but It's not been baking hot outside prob about 20-21.. They never last long tho but I'm hoping for a not so hot summer fingers crossed... Im going to post some new pics on day 10.. Oh and enjoy your ph experiments :)

Hey guys i got a question... I have a large tray that all 4 of my plants are sitting in and i was told I will be able to water my babies by pouring straight into this tray rather than the standard method. Has anyone ever watered this way and is it a good idea or not? I think I will be able to water in another 3 or so days... Thanks your thoughts would be helpful

I've heard of the technique before but never done it myself. I saw a thread on it last week actually. So you might have better luck looking it up.

Thanks for your reply mate. I've try'd looking for the thread you mentioned but no luck. I was just wanting to know if there was any or no advantage in doing it. The friend who told me about it has been growing for years but I was worried that the roots near the top of the pot won't be able to absorb much. Never mind I think I will be safe and stick with the norm. Cheers!

Better safe than sorry. Tried and tested methods everytime. If you want to guarantee a yield that is.

Just what I was thinking an as it's my first grow I'm not going to start running before I can walk. With my luck i would fall flat on my face.

Update time day 10..

I clearly have two front runners with the first two pics. Others aren't looking bad either tho. Don't think i will be lowering my light any more it's now 20 inches away from tops and don't want to risk any kind of heat stress. I've still not watered since the soil went in the pots but they feel like there getting a lot lighter now. It's looking like I'm in we are in for a hot day today outside so here's hoping my temps don't get to high...
Pics anyone!!

Nicely done till now gnug. from the look of it your too frontrunners are doing way better than mine at the same stage. You should see some nice growth in the next couple of days. But from what ive been told the time to watch out with these autos is week3. The really go through a growth spurt then. (from what ive heard)
Anyways, good luck.
oh and ive got my lights fixed. relief.

Hey,

Nice looking babies bro.

I would say don't just pour water into the bottom of the tray, the soil might not absorb very much of it and the top roots will suffer. You would also be risking rotten roots from the sitting water. I have been using rockwool cubes placed in trays and have been pouring nute solution into the tray and letting the plants soak it up. It's worked really well I think. Maybe that's something you should consider for your next garden.

Thanks man I'm a very proud father at the mo. I have ditched the idea of watering in to the tray I thought the same as you an there's no point in risking it. Like you said if they where in cubes or smaller pots it would work better. I just had a look at your girls an I must say congrats they are super super frosty :)

Thanks man it's going better than I ever could of hoped for so far. Really can't wait for them to take off on that growth spurt. Can't stop sticking my head in the tent at the min and telling them how well there doing. Never thought I would be talking to plants:) good work with sorting your lights out it will be plain sailing from here on out!! And good luck with your out door project fella

I think your being a bit too cautious. Alot of people do it because they know it provides better yields. The fuller and warmer tones are good for flowering. The change in light spectrum is supposed to mirror nature and its changing season, allowing the plant to flower rapidly. there are dozens of other better worded posts about the benefits of hps lighting, esp during the flowering phase. The shock that you are concerned about is as relevant as a 16 year old being promised a bmx bike for his birthday and instead getting a motorbike.
