Brown Claims 90 Percent Smoked Marijuana In 1985 Former NFL

Offensive lineman Lomas Brown, an ESPN analyst, believes more than half of NFL players smoke marijuana.

Brown made his claim to the Detroit News on Friday.

He said that three marijuana-related arrests of Detroit Lions players this off-season are just examples of what is a widespread problem in the league.

"I just don't think you'll be able to curb this" , Brown told the newspaper.

Brown said the problem was much worse when he joined the NFL in 1985, when he believes perhaps 90 percent of players smoked marijuana.

A CBS Sports report in April found that four out of 10 draft-eligible players this year failed at least one drug test at school and two of 10 failed more than once. About 70 percent of prospects at the draft combine admitted to using marijuana, according to an ESPN report. In 2009, roughly one-fourth of all football players admitted to marijuana use over the past year, which was the highest of any sport surveyed, in an NCAA report.

I played division I basketball and everyone besides two players smoked, some did it almost all the time. I would not be surprised at all if the number was closer to 75%

i honestly truly believe that the statistics put out by the government claiming theres only 30 million regular users in the U.S. is a complete bullshit lie. Thats less than 1 in 10 people. And even if its only 30 million, its only because its prohibited which jacks up the price to make it the biggest cash crop in the U.S.. AND it makes it harder to get, especially in non medical states, because you have to know somebody and do a drug deal everytime you run out.

I bet its already around 2-3 people out of 10. Thats my best educated guess. And if it wasnt for drug testing in the workplace and it whole "illegal" thing, i bet it would easily be over 5 out of 10.

Around 7 out of 10 people consider themselves regular alcohol drinkers....i bet cannabis could easily get that high (c wat i did thar?)

Not a "widespread problem," but rather, just showing that the most elite athletes in the world are not affected adversely by cannabis. Considering it's good for brain damage, (as the government's own patent on CBD outlines) it's probably the best thing they can do for themselves in dealing with the head trauma they go through.

The "widespread problem" is a law no one respects or agrees with, aside from prohibitionist special interests.

The word "problem" must be replaced by "reality." The reality is that a lot of people use cannabis and are NOT criminals. ;)

played d1 football, the whole team would've smoked if they didn't test. Unfortunately half the team smoked spice, 1/4 were smart enough to risk and smoke weed, while the other 25 % stayed clean in fear they'd be cutt

High school basketball team every single one of us starting smoked weed, I know guys who play D1 through D3 who smoke.

And Aaron Rodgers looks like a fucking stoner.

Also, obligatory Blue Mountain State reference.
