Are you talking about the 2009 release? The daughter was not murdered. She lived.

if you mean the 1972 Wes Craven version: The mother sees her daughters peace symbol pendant on Junior's neck. She then goes through their luggage and finds blood stained clothes. This prompts her to tell husband, and they go out on the property, and find their daughter's body.
