Stupid freaking ferret

  1. My stupid ferret just totally narc-ed on me.

My parents came over for brunch this morning and we were having a grand time laughing and eating and brunching (like you do...). When suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I see my ferret dragging something from the hallway. He dragged my entire stash of weed out into the the middle of the kitchen where I just watched, frozen in horror as he played around with it for a while before dropping it at my mom's feet and running off.

Needless to say. My parents and I have never had "the talk" concerning weed. Though, I kinda figured they knew.

My mom just held it up and handed it to me.

    "This yours?"

    "I was...ah....holding it for a friend?"

"You're getting too old for that excuse. I hope you carry your prescription with you everywhere."

    "I do."

    "Okay, very well."

    And that was that.

Great, now my parents know that I use marijuana and my dumb furry friend is now sitting in the corner, going apeshit over a chicken jerky like nothing even happened.

  2. Oh ferrets are so cute even though they have a way of dragging things out into the open. My friend had one that went into pockets and would pull out stashes or anything shiny and money. With that guy, you left poor or minus some of your goods. He liked to take them when you were sitting at a chair and the sneaky bugger took it and you wouldn't realize until you left and went to light up or buy something!

  3. LMFAO!! ferrets are awesome. I think your buddy was just trying to break up your bud for you. You know how that "ferret-help" is.

  4. haha thats awesome a buddy of mine had one that tunneled through his cabinets and had a whole maze of trails to get to anywhere in the house

  5. Cut the rodent in half and cook it on a george foreman grill

  6. This was literally the greatest post I've read all day. Seriously. Having had ferrets, myself - I know just HOW MUCH they love to steal/hide/play with certain things.... And I could just totally play out the whole thing in my mind's eye as I read. Holy crap. The pic of it at the end literally sent me into hysterical chuckles.

I'm sorry for your ferret's party-foul, for sure. But I'm so glad you posted the story. +rep. :hello:

  7. Oh, I love my furry little assholes but holy shit if they have not gotten me into trouble more than once.

I know what you guys mean by the tunnelling. My two have managed to tunnel an entire labyrinth in my dresser and I have found some of the strangest stuff in there:

    Homework
    underwear
    weed
    atm cards

I once found 7 empty milk jugs under my bed. Lord only knows how they managed to fit them under there.

    Nothing is safe with ferrets

  8. hahaha^ thats awesome about the milk jugs the same friends ferret did that but with water jugs and he dragged them into the closet.

  9. This thread brought up some sore feelings for my now deceased ferret Kizzletin :(

Love him while you got him!
Even if he's the reason for your parents discovery of your drug use.

  10. Op your so lucky you get to have a ferret...I have always really wanted one.......but as a kid my mom would not allow me and now my GF wont allow me!!! >.<
All I want is a damn Ferret!!!

    FML.....( ´,_ゝ`)

  11. They are one of the most loving yet destructive pets I've ever owned.

  12. Agreed.

They don't do it too much now that they're older. But I have one ferret who is such a mama's boy. Hell curl right up on my lap while im on the computer and just chill for hours.

Then....there was the time when someone left the garage door open and we had to chase them for an hour underneath the house.

very cute creatures but its like having two 2 year olds....that never get older or learn their lessons.

  13. D'awwwwwwwwww

How on earth did you ever catch them under the house?

There's more to be had by clicking that first link in my sig. :D as you scroll through the List, keep your family's medical history in mind.

Example - did Great-Aunt Martha die of Alzheimer's? This little article might interest your parents...

    Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's (news - 2006)

THC blocks an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase, which speeds the formation of amyloid plaque in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease.

The Alzheimer's drugs Aricept and Cognex work by blocking acetylcholinesterase. When tested at double the concentration of THC, Aricept blocked plaque formation only 22% as well as THC, and Cognex blocked plaque formation only 7% as well as THC.

I'll even do the math for you ;) ... 2 A = .22 THC ... divide by 2 on both sides.. A = .11 THC. Aricept is only 11% as effective as THC when it comes to blocking the deposit of amyloid plaque!

And it gets even better! THC activates both the CB1 and CB2 receptors.

The activation of cannabinoid CB2 receptors stimulates in situ and in vitro beta-amyloid removal by human macrophages. (abst - 2009)
The activation of cannabinoid CB2 receptors stimul... [Brain Res. 2009] - PubMed - NCBI

Macrophages are the "clean-up crew" cells. Activating the CB2 receptors tells them to REMOVE the amyloid plaque that is gumming up the brain in Alzheimer's!

Maybe you will end up having "the talk" with your parents! lol

Look through my List and find what you need- chances are, it is there! :D

    Granny

  15. Oh Granny! Bless you! I haven't been a pot smoking teen in-- well, suffice to say, it's been a while but I skimmed through the articles anyway (and actually, they gave me a few ideas for a current dilemma re: addiction). My family is not necessarily against marijuana use however, there has always been that "reefer madness" stigma attached to the idea.

This is probably what caused the paralyzing horror when my little furry friend decided to rat (no pun intended) me out. I know it'll be brought up at the next family function and I've already plotted out my discussion, although I don't think there will be much to talk about. Most of my family works in the medical field and living in California-- well, this has led to much debate about the therapeutic uses of pot.

The unfortunate part of all of this is that no matter how much empirical evidence comes out. As open minded as we think we are, there is still that subconscious stigma that my parents and family grew up with in the midwest, in the 60s, when smoking a joint would invariably lead this:
"Oh no....hippies! All they ever do is smoke pot and smell bad!"

Myself, I work in palliative care and have seen the advantages to therapeutic marijuana therapy for those with muscular degenerative diseases, terminal cancer and HIV and AIDS clients. However, due to federal and state regulations. I am not, under any circumstances, allowed to discuss any of this unless I want to lose my job. Nor am I supposed to "know" that my clients are smoking, eating, drinking, rubbing in or in any way using marijuana.

I'm seeing a shift though. Though I don't believe that pot will ever be accepted as a primary form of pharmacotherapy (at least, not in my lifetime). I do see it becoming a more acceptable form of complimentary therapy for terminal patients-- just as things like chiropractics, reiki and acupuncture have become more acceptable and effective in recent years....

    Anyway, off of my soapbox.

What did pique my interest was the use of weed to alleviate the symptoms of/to help prevent the onset of Alzheimers. Along with my alert clients, I also see a lot of mid-late stage AD clients and all of them are on Aricept. The idea that pot was more effective in the retardation of the onset of AD blew. my. freaking. mind. It would be interesting to see how a (FDA regulated, of course ) marijuana derivative might affect some of these clients.

I'll keep looking but thanks for the heads up Granny! Your comments are always appreciated! I feel smarter just by looking at your posts.

Wow, this thread really took a turn didn't it?

  17. Hee is a couple of pictures of my babies that I used to have. Three of them were rehomed because I didn't have the space where I was moving.. and Ginny unfortunately passed.

Ginny Ouisel (weasel) is the sable, Sampson is the giant white one, and Hunni (because she's sweet as ever) and Tyson (named because she bites) are the other two white blobs of fur.

*** having to do with the ferret sticking out of the pillow: I searched and searched and searched for her for 2 hours non stop. I sit down, 5 minutes later she pokes her little head out.

yes. I will have exactly 100 naps, pls.
