Adapting Light, Clones to Outdoors

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by SweetReleaf, May 17, 2012.

  1. Hello Blades, I have another question for you,,,

I picked up some clones the other day for my next outdoor grow, they were on an 18 on 6 off T5 light cycle, I have them on cfl's and I am slowly exposing them to natural sunlight during the day.

here's my question,, How slowly should I drop the light cycle to match my natural light cycle before planting them outside, would dropping 1/2 hr every two days be fine?

Right now where I'm at sunrise is at 5:53am, sunset 8:10pm giving me a little over 14 hrs, I have the cfl's coming on at 6 am and off at midnite right now.

    Thanks

bump! I'm in the same boat as you man. I've heard that taking them outside for a few hours and keeping them in shade is a good way to harden them for outside.

I'd like to hear from someone who is experienced with outdoor growing

edit - How much sun for seedlings? (for outdoor)
2 hours per day is enough for the first 2 days. More will kill them. Then, you can move up and give them max on day 4 or 5 (6-10 hours will be great for them at this point). Place them in their final spots asap.

    found it here: http://forum.grasscity.com/outdoor-...ight-start-growing-april-may.html#post6433950

  3. Put them in a spot that only gets a few hours of direct light at first then move them to full sun after a few days.

    VOO

  4. I have a question - if it is overcast poutside and windy do i sill put out my plants? they have been out in 6 hour sun light for the last 3 days will the overcast effect them? plus i hear it is windy

  5. Well, this is what I've decided from the bits I've found here and there,, I'm bringing the light cycle down in 1/2 hr increments every 4 days, they spend a few hrs a day outside and the rest they are in a window box getting shade light with a supplemental cfl on a timer

  6. overcast wont hurt you, the plants still recognize daylight through the clouds,,, windy tho,, put a tomato cage around them till they are big enough,, some wind is good,, makes them strong

  7. using the shade light plus a CFL is a good combo and it will certainly help their adjustment as opposed to just CFL which is how mine have been so far :\ although today was my first day sending them into the light. hey, its progress :hello:
