I believe the feds must be notified when this is done or something like that. I'm not really sure.

I think they would fucking love you to death but as KCL said they would def do some background check or figure out where the money came from. Why do you ask

That all depends on how money you're spending. If it's like a 5K purchase, they will not bother with background check. Now if you're a youngster buying a 30K car with straight cash, you'll have to jump through some loops.

Is it illegal to save your cash? Hell no. I believe however the amount is somewhere around $10,000 has to be reported to the feds.
The dealer will often drop the price a little however just to get paid in full.

It is here, that is how my car was bought, with a check from a checking account at a dealership, in full.

If you are willing to pay full sticker, and throw the salesman a few bucks extra to get creative with the paperwork, anything is possible. Had a friend who used to do that every few years, but that was a while ago. Not sure if it can still be accomplished.

Anytime a purchase is over $10,000 dollars in cash. A form must be filled out called a CTR (Cash Transaction Record). Its a form that takes down all your information: SS#, DL#, Address, etc. I'm in the banking business.
