Hello I'm about 6 weeks into my first grow. I set the timer for 12 hours of light per day. I keep the soil damp, mix organic fertilizer in with the water once per week. Last few days the top most leaves of my two most robust plants seem to be wilting. One thought I have is that the plants might be too close together, what is the minimum distance they should be from each other? Also, I see bits of whitish cottony mold(?) scattered across the top of the soil, could that be the problem? If pics would help, I have them but I see you have to post them somewhere else, can anyone suggest a safe site for this purpose?. Thanks

Over watering. You only need to water once every 2 days
And they should have their own pot/bag to grow in.

Why do you have them on 12/12? Is your space limited and you want them to flower quickly. At 6 weeks I would think you'd have them on 18/6 or atleast 16/8

Hi, you were right I was watering too much.
Apparently I am not providing the correct amount of light either. Can you point me to a chart and I'll adjust it? Thanks

I'm curious as well as to what lights your using. I fried the top of my plant the first night I started using cfls instead of t5s, definently made my leaves curl! Also, yeah the keeping the soil moist bit doesn't help. I learned the hard way with that one too. Seems these little weeds like wet/dry soil, no inbetween.

CFLs... About 2 months in... plants look good again after I stopped with the over watering, but I've been giving them 12/12 almost all along... will that have a negative effect? Can I correct it at this point? Thx

The problem is you didn't veg them. The point of vegging a plant is to make your plant larger until you begin the flowering stage to produce a larger plant with a larger yield. It will just be a smaller plant with less yield.

I've heardyou can revert back to veg if its not too late. I would probly switch those back to 24, or keep yournext ones going 24 hours in the early phase. More light more growth!
