I was wandering if it is possible to top a plant and in the same time tie it down so it can grow bushy. Anybody ever done this ?

Yep I do. These are some twin Purple Diesel clones. One topped one and both topped and lst'ed the other.. It's only been tied down a couple days but you can see the difference in height. There are more pics of bigger plants on my thread in the outdoor grow log forum if you want to see more examples.

I did that last year coupled with a bit of supercropping when its getting close to flowering and it worked great. Trial and error is the best way to learn like the others on here said try different methods on different plants to find what suits you

Look into supercroping and lst, supercroping thickens the stem, promotes branching, and you dont loose a cola.

I personally have only done both once. However i believe this is fairly common practice.

yeah just make sure the plant is in good health before you attempt either/both.

If you're not doing one or both to your plants, then in my opinion you're wasting your time and a lot of extra weight in buds.
