Hash oil from everclear question

    Ok I'm in my third week of soaking about 2 oz of mid grade in everclear it is sealed in a mason jar. My plan is at the end of this week is taking off the lid and heating in a double boiler one last shake up then straining into glass baking sheet to let the everclear evaporate. Then making some of those chocolate chews with tootsie rolls.
    My question is: is it necessary to heat before hand and will it make it more potent? This is my first time making so any suggestions will be great.
