Hi, im designing a box and could do with a bit of input on size.
I was thinking (d)1m x (w)1.5 x (h)1.8m
Sorry I don't know what that is in feet and inches.
How many plants would you put in this space? I will be using CFL for both veg and flower but will upgrade as I go.

Thanks guys

That size is good for even 600w HiD . So for CFL it would be plenty of size . Keep in mind that CFL does produce heat . I have a grow tent 1mX1mX1.8m (3x3x6) and 125w cfl( actuall wattage) was heating up my tent more than 600w HID with air cooled reflector .

Thank you, I will add ventilation and do some dry runs or bag seed runs to make sure heat isn't a problem, how many plants do you think I will get in there?

4-6 . More than that and it will be too tight . If I'll be you I would get 600w HID light .(in the perfect world you might get 400grams+ of dry grass )

If you going to grow 2-3 plants try SCROG . You can find more info on SCROG in plant training or in advanced growing techniques section . Light loosing it intensity with the distance , SCROG technique allows you to get better result with inferior light .

I was going to use scrog after growing a strain to get to know it, but going to go for it straight away (will probably mean a few questions, sorry lol). The trouble now is I thought my loft (attic) was big enough but it's not due to the way it was made, so now I have to do it in the shed but im scared it's going to be difficult getting temp up and down with weather and I don't quite now how to pull electric in there, im not worried about helicopters as im lining the box with that anti infrared mylar. Any tips will be most appreciated :D

You have less chance of getting busted if you grow at the house ...Another option is to grow outdoors . You can try auto flowering plants they grow faster because they do not relay on photoperiod . So from germination to harvest they need only 2 month 45-65 days . You not going to get much may be couple of OZ per plant at the most .

Do you think it's a bad idea? The shed is 100mm thick block wall + some as it's pebble dash then I will make the grow box inside

You can try . If you can manage the heat and odor why not . Jus do not germinate any seeds , do a dry run , just measure the temperature while lights are on and it will tell you if it is good to grow in that place .

Do you think the neighbours will smell them if I use a carbon scrubber?

Better not to scrubB the air but to ventilate it out . Make sure only to buy QUALITY filter. No name crap not going to make any difference . So I'll repeat my self again - If you want 100% odor protection only use quality components .For your grow box you can use 4" carbon filter with 150-170cfm inline fan . Place the filter inside of the grow box , place your inline fan outside of the box , connect the with short duct and blow the air in to your cabin . Make sure to place your filter in the top section of your box and make fresh air intake ( passive) on the bottom . Intake hole size can be same size as outline of your carbon filter ( side view ) , it will be small enough to keep the negative pressure , but big enough for your inline fan to work properly with out extra stress . Your cabin should be ventilated as well ( cracked window , may be ) because plants will raise humidity and high humidity will lead to the mold and loss of your future medicine .

I will be putting a dehumidifier inside the shed (not grow box) and do you have any link to the cheapest quality filter as if I done it I will end up getting a crap on, I was going to make one myself for the loft but now it's more important to control the odours. Thanks for all your help bud

I personally use Phresh carbon filter . You can get one from different hydro sites . I like www.greners.com you can try them , but best thing to do is to shop around . Phresh carbon filters are ready to go right from the box , you do not have to install any flanges also they come with prefilters so you do not have to buy one. When purchasing filter make sure to buy CARBON filter , because Phresh does make Phresh filters but they designed as intake dust protectors and have practically no odor control . There is many different kinds of inline fans on the market . I use Vortex ( fits perfectly with Phresh carbon filters) , I like it , it also comes with installation brackets and 10 year warranty . CAN brand seems to be very good as well , but I have no personal experience . One more thing if you planing to ventilate air out from the cabin ( heat management should be easier if you grow in the cabin , not in the box .) use 6" carbon filter and 6" (450 cfm ) inline fan .To suppress the sound of your inline fan you can use Phresh silencer , it does work and cuts down the noise by half ( I have 4" and 6" , very nice product ) .
