yo fellow growers. so i was just reading in a book about how UVB light rays will actually affect the potency of a plant. i just started flowering the other day and after reading that I kinda want to pick up some source of UVB light. I am currently growing under a 600 watt hps in a 4x4x6.75 tent. I was thinking about adding the UVB light in the last 3 weeks of flower. my question is, how much UVB will be sufficient enough to actually see results? like how many watts should I use, if you guys even think its worth the investment. let me know what you guys think.
I call bullshit on that. UVB definitely helps in potency and it helps ward of mildew and mold. I think the real issue here made be man made uvb lights are more intense and focused than the uvb the sun gives off and thus they do man made damage to nature. maybe try a diffuser or hang the light indirectly. Ive definitely thought of getting one of these. they are expensive and the reptile uvb lights dont seem strong enough.
Yeah, I call BS also. I have read on several occasions that UVB light definately increases potency. If you do search the net a little bit, you will find farmers that grow 3000-9000 feet above leavel growing some of the most potent bud in the world. The UVB is much stronger the higher elevation you go. Think about it...a lot of the strains we love come from mountainous regions with legendary potency...Many, if not most, of our landraces originates from way up in the mountains with rediculous UVB lighting. To the OP, in any case, you can use retile UV lights in ur grow room or a specific UVB light for plants. I believe Pro Gro makes a UVB light also.
I tried it on my first grow. It was to one side of my 400 Watt HID. Best, most dense crystally bud came from the bud which was between the lights. UVB needs to be blocked by the THC. So the plant makes more =) I use the reptile grow bulb.
I read a little on this a while ago but i cant find the threads right now... I was under the impression that it did hurt plant if there was too much or left on for too long, i think the guy ended up setting it on a 15-on 45-off cycle to give the plant time to recoup. I remembered it because i likened it to working out, you break down your muscles/cause tears etc and it grows back stronger/healthier, then again this could be wrong. EDIT: http://mjgrowers.com/book_what_exper1.htm Mr.Nice.nl Compiled UV-b Info
If any body is still checkin on this thread check out Thc,uvb and me on youtube old but very informative
My LED...Solarstorm has built in T8 UVB. Been using it since the beginning of the year and I think it helps...have not done a side by side everything I have grown under it with it on the last 2-3 weeks of flowering get some hella fine bud. Only a additional 30 watts with them on so I am sold. I had some fungus gnats way back when I started flowering. Turned that fucker on early and no more fungus gnats.
THC, UVB, and me look it up great video about the correlation. Yes using the lights is a great addition to indoor gardens that otherwise lack it. I call BS on the harshness comment about outdoor cannabis that has everything to do with what you feed the plant and how well you flush period so not sure who made up that BS. Also as far as potency it is still up there in the fall its not a huge difference and the yields more than make up for it.
Just throwing this out there you could be supporting his point. If it causes dna damage it might be the defect that spawned those better plants from dna modification? Stoned as shit but it makes sense.
UVB light is just fine for plants near the end of flowering. Doesnt make that much of a difference though. Have run my set up with and without.
I put two 24w t8s in my grow with one 400hps, first buds to get crystals are the ones under the UVB light.... Thinking of getting a couple of spot lights got the middle, 2 x 25w
Yes it will. I am also considering adding it. An elaboration on the phytochemical process that makes THC

For the whole 12 hours each day? I've heard that too much UVB will make the trichomes become amber real fast. I'm trying to grow a energetic high so I don't want that. Want them all cloudy.
As with anything you need to try it and see and adjust for the next time. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Grasscity Forum mobile app
