tips for scrog net?

  1. Have a 4x4 tent with 1000 watt hps. Going to run a 4 plant scrog already have 3 clones of Dinafem white widow and 3 RP headband clones.

My tent is 4x4 Mylar tent metal poles. How can I go about creatin a scrog screen for this? I want to attach it to the metal poles rather than have it sitting on legs. I was thinking PVC. I've seen a few threads on diy screens but I'm not sure how to build it to perfectly fit in my tent. I guess 3'10"x3'10"?

No idea where to start, but I know I want to attempt a scrog this time around.

  2. keep it simple i made one with basiclly 4 wooden poles and some fencing works like a charm. Also what you using to cool that tent with 1000w running in that baby, thats a lot of heat.

  3. Just tie the string around each of the poles, then run the string back and forth to make your own net.

Or... just get any sturdy garden training mesh, cut it to size, tie it to the poles.

or... make a basic wooden frame, fit the net of choice to it, suspend it from above so it's floating. Plenty of people use all of these methods. There;s no need to have a permanent screen if you don't want one.

But... have you ever grown those two strains before? I have and I'll tell you now, they're not ideal scroggers that's for sure. The headband is a cracking smoke though. Totally pisses on the dinafem WW.

Personally I'd grow them out without the net, find a pheno you like, then grow that when you know what to expect with it. Or.. just grow something better suited to a scrog and a big ass yield, but still killer high grade... like black jack or jack47 from sweet seeds. Some scrog beasts to be had in a pack of those. I've just cropped some dinafem original amnesia as well and that looks to have serious potential too.

  4. The last post is excellent info but I bet your gunna scrog em whether you have the right strain or not. Lol I would too just for the sake of doing it. A couple recommendations for u, think about keeping them in veg longer to increase plant mass and eventual yield, use lst and topping to increase the number of main colas. And my idea for your screen is to get some lengths of wood a kunt hair longer than the distance between your poles and just tie them to the poles at the height you want them to be at. Nothing beefy, just something like a wooden broom handle. Do that for all 4 sides, that's your outer perimeter of the screen, also get some of those little hooks or little hoops that will screw into your lengths of wood from a hardware store, get like 40 of them or more depending how small you want the mesh. Also just get some cheap string or rob some yarn from grandmas chair and string the netting through the hoops so it makes a grid pattern. If you do this right you might not have to buy anything for a cool scrog setup bro.

  5. Thanks for all the great info. I've been debating scrogging for a while I think I'm going to give it a go regardless. I've grown a number of successful strains lsting and super cropping as well as just letting them go on there own. Its more of an experience thing, I'd like to try out a new technique. Lst has worked wonders for me in the past so I want to try and step it up one more notch. To be honest the headband doesn't look to much of a great scroggrr (at least the one pheno I popped) it seems very leafy. The dinafem ww looks much more suited.

I think I may try just attaching them to the pole as suggested. If that doesn't work I'll go with the wood frame or pvc. Also to answer one question I'm running a 440 watt inline , temps stay around 82 at the peak. Well see how things go if I up my yield any decent amount for the amount of work scrogging calls for it may be worth the time.

  6. I have nearly the exact same setup you're describing. 4x4 tent with a 4 plant scrog under 1000 watt light. Here's how I did it. It was super easy and extremely sturdy. Even adds some structural integrity to the tent. 4 pvc pipes cut to 51 inches (you may have to measure the distance between your tent poles in case it's different than mine). Drill a hole straight through both sides near the end of each pvc pole, then use zip ties to attach them to the metal tent poles. They stay very nicely right around where the metal poles come together, but it's also pretty easy to move the entire screen up and down to whatever height you want. When you want to crank it down and stay in place, all you have to do is tighten the zip ties down really tight.

The screen material itself is plastic fencing with 2x2 square holes. You're going to want something very heavy duty like this because once those plants start pushing up into the screen it's going to be a LOT of pressure. Don't use string or nylon trellis netting because it simply won't work the way you need it to. Your screen needs to be strong enough to hold the plants down underneath it. The screen is attached to the pvc frame with zip ties as well. It's as easy as that!

Trying to figure out if there's a way to attach a pic without loading it up to another site first. I'm new to this forum. Good luck!
