10/14 flowering cycle..need a quick finish

I'm currently 5 1/2 weeks into flower of an 8 Ball Kush in a PC grow. Using a 65W 2700K CFL (yes I know thats bugger all, couldn't get more wattage in space as temps too high). I have 26 days before family are arriving for the Jubilee bank holiday weekend and my office (and whole house when I open the door) stinking of dank will put a positively bad undercurrent out for the whole weekend hence I need to chop on the 1st of June.
Will this finish well enough in time:

I personally have my doubts and whilst I don't mind cutting a bit early I think I need to take some sort of action. I read that switching to a 10/14 cycle helps plant finish quicker all be it with a smaller yield. As I will already have to deal with a reduced yield is it worth switching to 10/14 to try and finish it off/ does this even work/ does anyone have experience with this??
Any comments or knowledge would be much appreciated.

The plant could be finished by then. And even if its not yull just get more white trichomes then amber, which is what some people prefer.
If still not sure, post a pic of the trichomes on GC at the end of may. And we'll be able to tell you what kinda high yu'll get if its cut early or not.
Hope this helps, ive never changed lights from 12/12 once in flower, the photoperiod is very sensitive in this stage.

nope.
it'll still take just as long but with a smaller yield.
so, all you're doing with 10 on / 14 off is hurting your yield.

I seen no major decline in yield and under a scope their were more amber than before and the hairs all turned brown, red etc. After properly curing is some dank, awesome smoke....
You want to do this just after they pump up for the last time, usually about 2 weeks before they will finish.
Do a good flush and water only for a week before harvest then shut down the lights. If you can lower the temps in the GR, even better.
I have also done the light cycle thing and didn't notice much difference, but would assume would help....

. Once you've flowered, can't go under 12 brother...
Best of luck to you and your garden!
Don't listen to him, he knows not what he speaks of..
It can be done, take time off the start of the cycle, do it on 10-15 min incriments over a couple of weeks...
It does freak the plants out causing them to finish better, would not say it makes them finish quicker though

I have done some experimenting with shutting the lights off just before the harvest for faster ripening and will confirm that 36 hours worked well, but think 48 hours would be best.

Cheers, so is it essentially giving it a 48hr dark period before I chop. Or do I give it a long dark period a week before the chop then back on 12/12 for last week?

This.
More dark time = more trichomes.
Then the longer they are in the light the more they deteriorate. So I see 10/12 cycle fine that's what I'm using ATM trying to get a straggler to finish off.
You can go up-to 72 hours of darkness before she will run out of back up energy before chop time.
Can throw some ice cubes on the soil last watering also to try tighten up the buds
