I heard somewhere that it was only bordering country shops who can't sell to tourists
For now, only in the south.

Its harder to find the best weed right now, but easier to make some extra cash and here in the south its getting out of control like i hoped and hoping they will turn that law back. they already (after 1 week) have made it easier to register here in eindhoven.

yeah this things is pretty negative in the news... they interviewed dealers that were so happy it felt like it was Christmas.
They said they are making one month's paycheck in one day. It's pretty funny how terribly this is failing.

Man, I wish this would get more focus in the media... this is a fine example of how decriminalization works and how anything else has negative effects like a black market, selling to anyone at any age, etc.
The only real way to stop drug tourism is to make it legal everywhere

'Excuse me sir.'
'Yes?'
'Any chance you'd be willing to pick me up a few grams of G-13 Haze if I give you some extra cash?'
'Certainly...'
Granted not everyone would be willing to do that, and there's a big chance of getting screwed over, but still, it will happen.

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip out there in the next few months... from what I've been gathering we are still good to go despite everything, but do you think it's not going to be the experience we are hoping for because of all the media? or is nothing effected? I'm skeptical!
I was in Amsterdam yesterday and everything was business as usual, still saw lots of Americans.

Well Amsterdam's the same as any city, but with more weed, canals and wonky buildings. The Dutch countryside is the most boring place on earth if you ask me.

Yup, cities are often similar to other cities.

The problem hasn't been the international tourists in Amsterdam and the other big cities. It's the rowdy local German, French and Belgian's overrunning the smaller border towns every weekends and their dealers making repetative 5 gram buys and taking it home to sell without spending another euro in the local Dutch economy. These problems do not play out well in the Dutch press. The Dutch are very protective of their rights and their way of life. These activities in these border towns infringed on their rights to privacy. The current right wing government rode in on the fear of immigration causing the loss of this way of life. The coffeeshop tourism issue was just something else in the right wing bag of agenda. Most Dutch are somewhat indifferent to the issue except for those whose lives are upset in the border towns and their sympathizers.
The political pendulum has swung pretty far right. Let's hope it has begun its swing back and an acceptable compromise is achieved soon.
