Believe it or not this is close to four weeks from germination. I have pruned a little and added more soil so it is a (very) little deceptive. I have fox farm nutes: Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom. I only water when they need it; it is not my first grow but I can't seem to get them to grow. I just ordered some Cal Mag and I pray that will be my solution.

They have stunted growth, red veins in stems, and light green/yellowing of leaves. This is Bubblegum from BCBudDepot and I just want happy babies that grow big and strong. Please help if you have experience/positive suggestions. Thank you.

What kind of soil are they in? They look like they are getting nute burn. I would also check the ph. Seedlings like this don't need much except what's in the soil in the cups. Cal mag mightake it worse.

I keep ph at 6.5. It is a mix of some basic miracle grow potting mix, sand, and perlite. its not nute burn, but thanks. I am very careful about how much nutes I give them. And remember they have been in that soil for almost 4 weeks so I think they are not getting something they need from that soil.

My bet is on Miracle Grow being the problem. That stuff is garbage.

I think that if you gently take one out of the solo cup, you'll see that there is zero or very little root development which = no growth up top.

And what did you prune on those things, they are tiny! I'm not sure why you would prune on something that small, that likely contributed to the stunted growth as well.

pruning was the wrong word. Got rid of dead foliage. I dont think I am ever going to use miracle grow again but I've had success in the past. Would it be a good idea to transplant in new soil or wait for cal mag which should be here in a couple days (Monday).

Yes, transplant to new soil the miracle grow is a major no-no.

What are your day and night temps and how often are you watering, what kind of light do you have them under.

At this point, I would just start from scratch if you have more seeds. You'd likely finish ahead of the game in the long run.

I already started my last three and they are doing really good. I am using 3 X 42 watt cfl and 1 X 26 watt cfl. Temps range from 72 over night and up to 88 during day but usually 81 or so. I water only when needed. thanks

And do you think I should try to transplant into new soil or wait for cal mag?

Highly dought its a cal/mag issue. Are you feeding them and ifso how much and how often? 88 degrees is to hot during the day. As light green and yellow as they are it looks like a nitrogen deficiency. See link below for more info. Mobile Elements, figure 9.

Well I gotta goto bed but will check back again in the morning. New soil deffintely, not a fan of Miracle Grow. Good for tomatos and other veggys not so great for pot plants.

I started my first grow with only fox farms of soil, I'm now in week 8 and just starting to introduce nutes. Maybe I should have started sooner but, if it ain't broke don't fix it....

I feel like I could definitely be feeding them more. I have burned past grow and now I rarely use nutes and when I do I use under what is suggested. It would make sense that it could be a nitrogen

NITROGEN (N) Pale plants, red stems, smaller growth. Rapid yellowing of lower leaves progressing up the plant. Add any chemical fertilizer containing N. Treated plants recover in about a week.

PHOSPHORUS (P)
Slow or stunted growth, red stems. Smaller leaves that are dark green. Lower leaves yellow and die. Add chemical fertilizer containing P. Affected leaves will not show recovery but new growth will apear normal.

POTASSIUM (K)
Affected plants are usually tallest and appear to be most vigorous. Necrotic spots form on lower leaves. Red stems. Leaves appear pale or yellow. Add chemical fertilizer containing K.

CALCIUM (Ca)
Lack of calcium in the soil results in the soil becoming too acid. This leads to Mg or Fe deficiency or very slow stunted growth. Treat by foliar feeding with one teaspoon of dolomatic lime per quart of water until condition improves.

SULFER (S)
Plants suffering from S definciencies exhibit yellowing of new growth. Mix one tablespoon of Epsom salts per gallon of water until condition improves.

MAGNESIUM (Mg)
Lower leaves yellow and may even turn white while veins remain dark green. Blades die and curl upward.

IRON (Fe)
Leaves on growing shoots turn pale and veins remain dark green. pH imbalances make iron insoluble. Foliar feed with chemical fertilizer containing Fe or rusty water.

MANGANESE (Mn)
Necrotic and yellow spots form on top leaves. Mn deficiency occurs when large amounts of Mg are present in the soil. Foliar feed with any chemical fertilizer containing Mn.

BORON (B)
Growing shoots turn grey or die. Growing shoots appear burnt. Treat with one teaspoon of Boric acid (sold as eyewash) per gallon of water.

MOLYBDENUM (Mb)
Yellowing of middle leaves. Foliar feed with chemical fertilizer containing Mb.

ZINC (Zn)
White areas form at leaf tips and between veins. Occurs in alkaline soils. Zn deficiency can be treated by burying galvanized nails in the soil. Chemical fertilizer containing Zn can also be used.

OVER FERTILIZATION
Causes leaf tips to appear yellow or burnt. To correct soil should be flushed with three gallons of water per one gallon of soil.

Any updates?

hey, thanks for the concern. I thought people just leave these threads alone. I love this site btw and member for life.

I gave them a full dose of nitrogen Grow Big and they really responded to it leading me to believe it was nitrogen deficiency. The next day I got two bags of organic soil and two bags of perlite and transplanted everything into new soil as of last night. It is early but I think I fixed it thanks to everyone's help here. I post some pics a little later and now I know to just say no to miracle grow. Thanks to all you guys
