Yeah, Texas is one of the most stubborn (if not the most) states in the US. Even if you completely prove that something they have been doing is wrong...it will still take like 10 years for it to change.

You need to get the word out about what cannabis can do! Use "hot topics" like breast cancer and Alzheimer's to get their attention. So how do you get the word out? :confused_2:

The online news is one way- make a comment with a quote from a study or article. I sometimes run "Alzheimer's", Breast cancer" or lately, "Mad Cow Disease", through Yahoonews. If anything shows up for that day, I comment.

WebMD is a reputable source of medical news that most folks have heard of. :) They have a blockbuster article about Aricept and THC! Seems like THC is about 10 times better than Aricept at preventing the build-up of amyloid plaque (the stuff that gums up your brain in Alzheimer's)! Everyone on Aricept is using an expensive, second-rate drug! Home-grown cannabis can provide THC for pennies a dose! :smoke:

Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's (news - 2006)
Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's

. “THC blocks an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase, which speeds the formation of amyloid plaque in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease.

The Alzheimer's drugs Aricept and Cognex work by blocking acetylcholinesterase. When tested at double the concentration of THC, Aricept blocked plaque formation only 22% as well as THC, and Cognex blocked plaque formation only 7% as well as THC.”

Then there is breast cancer. Cannabidiol (CBD) is the #2 compound in cannabis and it can't get you high no matter how much you use. Like THC, it is very safe and several new strains of high CBD cannabis are becoming available in MMJ states.

Antitumor Activity of Plant Cannabinoids with Emphasis on the Effect of Cannabidiol on Human Breast Carcinoma (full - 2006) Antitumor Activity of Plant Cannabinoids with Emphasis on the Effect of Cannabidiol on Human Breast Carcinoma

Or more simply

Cannabis Compound May Stop Metastatic Breast Cancer (news - 2007)

Mad Cow Disease made it back in the news recently. Did you know that CBD stops the damage that the Mad Cow prions cause?

Nonpsychoactive Cannabidiol Prevents Prion Accumulation and Protects Neurons against Prion Toxicity (full - 2007) http://www.jneurosci...full/27/36/9537

Cannabidiol May be Effective in Preventing Bovine Spongiforme Enzephalopathy (Mad Cow Disease) (news - 2007) AAMC: Cannabidiol may be effective in preventing bovine spongiforme enzephalopathy (mad cow disease)

Those are just three of the topics I have collected in my List to help you educate everyone. GC has an older version (1st link in my sig), but the new one is free for the asking! :D Just send me an email and I'll send you back my List as a nice PDF (or WORD doc, if you ask for it).

(FYI- hotmail does NOT like my List- it's too dang big! All hotmail accounts will get my List in two parts- it's clumsy, but it works! )

Then you forward the List to all of your friends who toke and give them the friendly challenge of "just read all the titles"! :P The 2012 List is 670 pages of nothing but titles and links to MMJ articles. I have a mix of easy to read news articles, abstracts (short summaries of a medical study) and full studies- which may be written in English, or "Sci-Speak".

Changing a person's mind about anything often comes down to one thing.... "How does this affect me?" Most folks, if they, or a loved one, is affected by a disease cannabis can treat, they will listen, and at least, consider it. Cannabis heals and helps in so many ailments that it is just a matter of time before you "reach" someone.

The only way we can end prohibition in Texas, and everywhere, is to show people, one at a time, what cannabis can do for them. I've given you the "ammo" you need, it's up to you to use it!

Once the medical facts about cannabis become known, the need for legalization becomes obvious - even in Texas!

Granny

Born and rasied in Texas...I love this state, it's my home, but MJ will never be legal here. If it is, it will be the veryyyyyy last state to do so.

I can legally shoot you in the face and blow your freaking brains out if your on my property without my permission but I cant even have a tiny lil nuggie...sad.

Eitherway, proud Texan and MJ lover, I signed.

We have progress.

If anyone listens to talk radio (parents make me) then you should have heard of a houston channel 740 KTRH and 950 the radio mojo. Both channels are EXTREMELY conservative.

But, recently around 4/20 a lot of the most popular hosts (Shawn Hannety, Michael Berry, and MUCH more) talked about the legalization of medical cannabis! They had several idiot debators, that got wrecked by a guy who knew nothing about it but pulled up several articles he found on google, and destroyed these people.

I'm emailing both news channels, fox new, abc13, and more with the articles granny has and I want to help this along.

If people like Rick Perry would stop worrying about gay marriage and pull their head out of their ass, the world would be a better place.

If ANYONE has ever heard of Michael Berry you know he is 100% against liberals, democrats, and their views. Except cannabis, he agrees that people should be able to do what they want in their own homes and not be penalized for it.

The legalization of medical marijuana is making it's way around states that don't make it a big deal, but places like Georgia, Alabama, and Texas have very strict laws that they would rather keep in place. With that being said, legalization nationwide is what I'd love to live to see.
