So lately I've noticed horror movies don't do the same thing they used to, back when I saw movies like Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street, and the Exorcist, I actually was jumpy and stuff. Anyways I'm just seeing if anyone knows any recent good horror movies.

Was never much a fun for slashers, but psycho thrillers freak me out. The Shining, A clockwork orange (both by Kubrick) will always scare me.
Also Cabin in the Woods was different, but totally worth seeing. Wouldnt say scary though...

Insidious has no replay value. I watched it once and was slightly scared. The second time it was just funny.
Nosferatu was great.
I've been a fan of Friday the 13th since I was a little kid. It's not scary just f00kin awesome.

The Collector, absolutely one of the best out there, it's not necessarily scary, but it's awesome, a must

The Cabin in the Woods is such a great horror movie ESPECIALLY if you're a horror fan. I was having nerd-gasms at the reveal, once I finally figured out what was going on. Fantastic film that certainly revived the horror genre for me.
I love horror movies and my favorite one would have to be the original Halloween, but to say it's the best one is a stretch. I personally think Psycho is a knockout horror film and probably the best, Hitchcock and Perkins just delivered in that movie.

cabin in the woods isn't even really a horror movie. I thought of it kind of like a spoof. but it's definitely original which is rare these days.

It's more like a horror movie about horror movies; satirizing them while celebrating them at the same time. If it would a spoof it would have hit Scary Movie levels of ridiculousness, it's more like Scream in that regard. Except Scream was a little more serious but WAY more people died in Cabin haha..

My all time favorite is definitely Nightmare on Elm Street 1.
I remember seeing it for the first time when I was like 5 years old and it haunted me for years..
I grew up and loved horror movies and that one movie always stuck with me...

So
I don't now why but some of my scariest movies were ones that came out 2000 and on.
I think, while I totally respect the older ones, these scared me more and were thereby, my favorites.
Thirteen Ghosts
Silent Hill
House on Haunted Hill (remake)
Flame all you want, blades. Those were the ones that got me the best.

^^^ Its probably because at the time they where scary to u. I bet u where really young when they came out.
I was way to old for that shit to be scary to me when it came out.
