Hey guys, this is my second journal, and my seventh grow or so now. I've changed a lot of stuff since my last grow. My set-up is very small, I went from having three grow cabs, to just one. Since I live in an apartment space is a bit of an issue, at one point I will get a tent, but till then the small cab has to do.

So to get on with this grow, I went from three grow boxes (heres the link to my last grow if you wanna check it out http://forum.grassci...ml#post13373881) to now just the one. I was running only CFL's, but I decided to gut my box and install a 150w HPS lamp by Sun Systems, I wanted to use it for my grow I listed above and I tried, but it was wayyyy too hot, so I made the necessary changes to the box. It runs a bit hot still since the ballast is inside the lamp, but I have three PC fans pushing out all that hot air, completely empty the box runs about 75-84 degrees, I also have one T5 bulb going in the cab as well (pictures will come tonight after work, or sometime tomorrow).

I will be growing two fem. Nirvana Bubblelicious, after some research I decided to do a SCROG grow. I germinated my seeds yesterday, using the paper towel method which has worked every time for me. My specs for this grow are listed below. Btw, my girls will each be in a 2 gallon smart pot, they are fucking bomb, and if you haven't heard of them, look them up.

HPS/T5 Cab
Lighting - 1 Sun Systems 150w HPS
Lighting - 1 24w T5 bulb
Ventilation - 4 PC fans, three outtake, one intake
Ventilation - small fan posted up on the top right of the cab to cool the HPS light and plants
Lighting Schedule Till Flower - 20 hours on 4 hours off

Soil/Nutrients/Misc
Soil - Fox Farms Ocean Forest
Nutrients - Fox Farm Trio
Foliar Feed - Dutch Master Penetrator/Saturator (love this stuff)
Misc - Humbolt Country Purple Maxx/Gravity
Misc - Un-Sulfured Molasses
Misc - Birth Control (Full Blue Mystic grow guide - learn how to grow Blue Mystic - "Blue Mystic Growing Help") check it out, used it a few times, my gf had some laying around so she gave it to me, and yes she is on birth control, she just gave me her old prescription, I get asked that a lot when I tell people I use BC for my plants.

Okay guys, thats basically it, again I'll take some pics of the seeds germinating, and the box I got set-up. If anybody has any questions just ask. Also, I love feedback, any suggestions, errors on my part, anything, let me know..I know a fair amount about cultivating mj, but I know my experience lacks compared to some of the vets on the forums. So any help, especially with SCROG, I'm ready to take a seat and listen, thanks again guys!

Hey guys, here are the pics as promised. Looks like my seeds have popped, which was not surprising since I've had 100% luck with Nirvana, good shit, highly recommend.

The other pics are of my cab, it's small like I mentioned in my first post, but it's been getting the job done, and I'm really happy with the re-model. I did paint the cab with white paint, which I know is not as great as mylar, but I did read Titanium White paint is very reflective, but expensive. Well it just so happens my gf paints, a lot, and I have two tubes full of Titanium White paint...which is awesome. So I will be painting the cab again today, then plant my seedlings in $oL0 cups on the 17th or 18th, depending on how fast everything dries.

If you look closely at the pics you might see some metal rings screwed into the cab in random spots, that was originally for my LST, which I did for my last grow. However I used rods to hold down the plants, and noticed the plants would lift the gardening rods from the soil, which was the opposite of what I wanted to accomplish with LST. So I decided this grow I would use yarn and tie them to the metal rings to give them more stable bend. Well then I did hours of research on SCROG and dropped my lst idea, so I decided I will take those off, and use them to make my SCROG screen using chicken wire, I'll raise them a bit, and try to make 2"x2" squares, probably a bit smaller sice the cab is pretty tight already.

I think I touched on everything, I tend to ramble when I come on here high as shit, and I'm feeling pretty good right now. :smoke:

Forgot to mention, my temps look pretty good, + or - 87 degrees right above the halide, but has a fan blowing right below (I'll keep colas a tad shorter so they don't get too close to the bulb, Gravity can effect the plants if too much heat is too close. To the left of the bulb it stays below 82 degrees, this is also true for the back left. The back right stays around 85 degrees. Worst case I add another inline fan, but right now I think I'll take my chances, I'll start the seedlings in a cooler area to start, then gradually move them over when I transplant.

Planted seeds in solo cups a few days ago, 4/16 Monday, i got home from work, sprayed my seeds in the p.t, they were still working there way out, smoked and chilled a bit, 130 am check again, and the one looks like she's ready to pop. So I plant them, and now they've sprout. Day 3 1/2 almost, I'll post a pic of growth tomorrow, for now here are the seeds before planting. Since this is a pretty lame post, I'll post a pic of my new rasta Poseidon bowl, I fucking love it! Haha

Pics as promised! Taken about an hour ago.

Second pic btw is not random, wanted to show everyone my temps. With the 3 outtake fans, the hps, and one t5 the left side of the rooms is 80 degrees or so, right below my hps, its around 82.7 and holding. So I'm fairly happy with those temps, for the space. Looks like next grow I will have a tent. But till then, hopefully this works out.

Pics, only real update is tomorrow I will be giving my plants a small dose of Big Bloom per FFOF feeding charts recommendation. I will also start foliar feeding with Dutch Masters a day or two after their first sip of nutes.

I'll be transplanting into 2 gal smart pots within the next week as well, thats when I'll set up my screen, should be an interesting few weeks. :smoke:

*btw that fan in the pic is there to suck all that hot air from the outtake fans away from that area to cool the box down a bit, probably dropped temps 2-4 degrees. I will also be doing a DIY odor control set-up using Ona block, some water, a 5-10 gallon bucket from home depot and drill some holes around the top of it, and a circular fan to put on top of the bucket. Essentially the fan will suck all the skunk odor during flowering into this ona/water mixture and basically clean the air. Will cost me less than $30, I have everything but the ona block. Heres a link to where I found this DIY set-up. Pretty cool. http://www.420magazi...rol-bucket.html

Btw, anyone who has done a scrog grow, or has some knowledge of it I have a question. Since I'm very limited on space, I will not be able to have my screen 6 inches from my plants, shit I might not have any more than a 2-3.5" window, I just want some tips on how to train my plants with such little space. I know it can be done, because I found a guy who just plopped a screen down on his plants and had amazing success. (I will post the pic, but I will find this guy to give him the proper credit, cause it looks pretty sick)

Hey guys, some updates to report on.

I finally set-up my scrog screen. Nothing too impressive, especially with the small space I have to work with. The string seemed better than anything else, I can cut it when I'm done using it, or if a piece breaks I can easily re-attach.

I transplanted a few days ago into two gallon smart pots. I transplanted at like 1am a few days ago, I've read after you transplant you should give your plants some darkness to adjust. I gave them 4 hours, they stopped growing for about 10 hours, but have been growing a bit faster each day since the transplant.

I fed each plant today, each one took about 1.5-2 quarts of 6.4 ph water with some Big Bloom, I will be on week three of feeding starting next week, so I'll be introducing my Grow Big nute during that time.

I will also be topping each of my plants a week or so before flower, I did this once before by accident to my blue mystic plant, it turned out great, got two nice top colas on that plant. I heard it's just easier to top when you use the scrog method as well.

Okay that is all for now, will take some pics in a few days to update and show some growth. Peace GC. :smoke:

Here's some more pics. Growth has picked up the pace since the transplant. I will continue to foliar feed with Dutch Masters every other day.

Okay guys, any questions just ask. Still looking for any advice on my scrog set-up. Again, it is my first time, and with this small scrog grow any tips would be great. Thanks everyone!

Hey guys, here's another update. Just watered today with some grow big and big bloom, and I've been foliar feeding every other day with my dutch masters pen/sat, as well as misting some water on my plants to keep temperatures in check when it gets too dry/hot.

I also topped my plants...it's the first time I've ever topped on purpose, two other times where strictly accidental (handling mistakes from being too rough early in my growing hobby, but I had good results each time). It looks like the indica pheno on the right has two nice new top colas, but it looks like my indica/sativa pheno on the left has four new sprouts..I think, haha? I tried to take a close pic, but it's hard with the hps being so bright and my cameras not being able to get a very clear pic. I could be mistaken, since I am very new to topping like a said, so let me know what I did guys...shit I dunno? Haha

I'm also turning down the temperature in my pictures to show the true colors of my girls. Let me know if they look healthy, and ANYONE who has some tips on my mini Scrog set-up, it would be much appreciated, as well as tips on growing the bubble gum, anything to know while in veg or flower that is unusual for this strain. I've looked around and it seems like a easy strain to grow if you keep you ph around 6.0-6.5, and giver her tons of nutes....but again suggestions are more than welcome.

I think I'll veg for another week or so, then flip the lights. I really do not want to have an overgrowth problem with my hps being so low, and I want at least 5 inches between my colas and hps bulb. However I really do not know how bad these things will stretch the first two weeks...from experience with other strains a 3-4 week veg at about 7'' stretches another 7" during flower....again I've never grown this strain so idk. Suggestions, tips, constructive criticism....it's all welcome guys.

Here's a clear close-up pick of my indica/sativa pheno on the left. You can clearly see the two healthy sprouts on either side of each other from topping, but if you look where the main cola used to be, either side of the cut I made their are small sprouts forming. Is this because my cut job was shitty? Or did I cut something that will give me four colas? I've heard the more colas the more the plant has to work, and most the time the four would end up equaling the two, so I would be more inclined to cut them off if that makes sense....any help would be great! Thanks

*edit* (5/11/2012) It looks like I somehow topped and got 4 new top colas. Since I didn't get any info on if I should cut the two I just kept them. Will take a pic and show how big they have gotten within the next few days. Later.

Here are some pics of the young bud sites, so far so good I think. Veg probably for one more week or so. Kind of worried about stretch, but I think I'll be able to control her, we shall see. :devious:

Hey guys, I decided it was time to flower. First time doing scrog, and i've never had this much growth before, I give credit to the hps and the fact that I'm doing two plants instead of cramming three in there. Much healthier than my last grow.

With that said, I've seen this particular strain stretch a fuck ton. So I'm a bit nervous, and decided today would be perfect to flower my beautiful baby girls. :hello:

So here are the last pics in veg, btw I watered once and fed her three times. I typically like to feed every other watering, but I wanted to see how much growth I could get without hurting each one from nute burn. But they grew faster than ever, and the next time I'll water it will be straight water to flush her a bit, then I'll start the flowering nutes, humboldt products, continue dutch master foliar for 4 more weeks, and add some unsulfured molasses (I love the stuff, some people say it does nothing, to each his own). I also wanted to add that I used the left over birth control my gf gave me that she had thought she lost, I crushed up two pills and put them in the water...it's supposed to speed up growth, look back on previous posts, I uploaded a link I'm pretty sure to where I found that out..who knows worth a shot.

Well hope everything works out, as usual any suggestions, tips, or whatever are welcome, I'm excited but I don't want to fuck anything up. Thanks blades! :smoke::wave:

DAY 3 FLOWER

So everything seems to be okay. I'm very happy with the indica/sativa on the left, its been so easy to scrog, however the indica on the right has been so bushy it's been too difficult to properly scrog. I should have bent the branch over when I had the chance (like you would do in LST) to help get each cola under the screen and better light, too late I guess since each stem is pretty hard. It's just going to take more work to get each one under a screen but it's whatever.

I watered each one yesterday, I'll be feeding each one flowering nutes the next watering/feeding. I've been continuing to spray with dutch masters, and so far they seem to be soaking up all the sunlight.

I'm hoping I can keep them from outgrowing my box, I think I flowered the perfect time, but like I said in a previous post, we shall see...! :smoke: Enjoy the pics.

DAY 7 FLOWER

Okay guys, everything seems to be growing like crazy. I will probably stop scrog training either the middle or end of next week.

Not much else to report, fed her flowering nutes yesterday, foliar fed with Dutch Masters today and thats pretty much it.

I took these pics about 30min ago, the first few pics are when the lights just flipped on at 9am. The last two are after I trained them back under the screen. Probably wont update for another week or so. Till then blades

Time to wake and bake:bongin::hippie:

*edit* ohh and btw I added another small fan, upper left of the grow cab. It seems to have cooled temps down even more, btw temps are nice and cool 76-82 lights on and 65-69 lights off...if I got any blue/purple pheno my temps at night will certainly bring those out. Okay now I'm off.

DAY 10 FLOWER

Hey guys, I didn't want to update till the end of two weeks, but I added 1 CFL on the right side for some supplemental lighting. The temps on that side are getting a little hotter, so this is mostly an experiment to see what I can get away with in my cab, so far the combination of 3 fans, and 3 outtake fans have been keeping everything cool, mostly worried about my girl on the right, since the hps bulb is directly below her, gotta keep those colas on the shorter side, will be an interesting 8 more weeks :smoke:

Again this is only a lighting update which I may or may not keep around, I'm just playing this grow by ear at this point, just having fun really. Any questions to whoever is reading, just ask! Later blades

Just wanted to make a quick note as to why I'm using two different spectrums of light during flowering, which is typically favored at 2700k. I've read that a 5500-6700k and 2700-3300k lighting together during flowering can produce a nice all around spectrum for the plants. Supposedly they respond well to this mixed lighting during flowering, so that's why I did it. Just wanted to add that incase anyone was questioning my lighting situation. Thanks again for looking...and this new cfl could still be a temporary thing, again we shall see. Stay tuned.

Lighting specs are now...
150w HPS - 16,000 lumens
26w CFL 6600k - + or - 1,000 lumens
24w T5 6500k - 1,000 lumens

TOTAL LUMENS= + or - 18,000 lumens

DAY 14 FLOWER

Hello fellow blades, here is an update with pics. Today was my last day to kind of rearrange the growth through the nets. I will now let everything grow out.

Both plants have turned out to be beautiful girls, which I never doubted since Nirvana fem seeds have had a 100% germ rate for me, and 100% have become girls since I started growing.

Will add molasses next week to the feeding, I'm going to also start foliar feeding purple maxx and only foliar dutch masters once or twice a week.

Thats pretty much it everyone, ohh I did decide to switch out that 23 or 26w cfl I put in for my right plants supplemental lighting, but it got too hot so I added an 18w and it seems to be working out well. Will still monitor the temps, but so far so good. Will also start trimming or pruning in the next week, I won't be doing a ton of pruning since I've read it is a stressor for the girls, and since they are so stressed with scrog already, I want to limit that as much as possible.

Okay blades, till next time
Now time to....:bongin:

Thanks psylent, I'm interested now as well, the hps scared me off a little my last grow, I burnt the side of one of my girls top cola, and heat was very difficult to control. Really just was not ready to add a powerful light like that without prep.

But since the remodel on this box everything is much cooler, and so far growing nicely. Thanks for checking everything out!
