Hi, I just made an account -literally 5 minutes ago- because I'm still sketching on what I should be doing.
I get that worrying won't do anything to make things better but I'd like some advices or assurances or etc it is that you guys can tell me. (Also, sorry if this is the wrong section to post again I'm new here)

So basically the title says the shit I'm in.
Canadian citizen living in BC, fraser valley to be more specific -not sure if there is anyone from this region that could give me some tips thatd be awesome- .

so yea, long story short Cop rolled up in front of my friends and I after our long ass hike, searched our bags and in my bag he found it. So now, he gave me a court date and a fingerprint date that I need to attend.

Things I didn't know when this happened:
-that I could simply reject him when he asked to search our bags
-that He can lie to make me say bunch of stupid things; which he did and this ended up as far as telling him the weed was mine, was in my bag, and we smoked some of it earlier that day.

Yesterday, I went to the legal aid office in my town where they take my case and put it up for the free lawyers to defend me and whatnot so I'm waiting on that.
Also the lady in the legal aid did a special favor for me and called one of her friends who's in the crown and asked what would be the worst case scenario for me: and it was fine and probation and of course the criminal record.

I know it's not a serious crime but like I was born in Korea and I don't even have to tell you how my parents would see this little record as a future ruining factor as I'm going to be in uni this September, pursuing to be an accountant.

As you can probably notice I'm freaking the fuck out lmao.

-This is my first time ever in trouble with the law
-Cop did see my volunteering experiences at food bank and an old home.
-I had like 7 grams but when the cop saw it he was like how much is there 3 grams? and i just said yea lol so i guess the judge and the crown will be looking at that...unless he weighs it again before the court date.

well anyway I'd love some feedback on what I could do to get the best out of this situation?
I don't think I need to hire a lawyer..well I can't afford one anyways my parents don't know so yea.

So far my plan is to just go with the duty counsel, maybe show up a bit early to talk to him.

I've read online that you can talk to the judge and the crown before it actually begins?
I don't know if that's possible or not.

oh the court and fingerprint dates are all happening in mid June

basically what I'm asking is that if there's anything I can do without hiring a lawyer to not get a criminal record?

  2. first offence nothing will even happen comeon bro we are canadians!!!

  3. Probably not, unfortunately when you admit to stuff it closes some doors for you. :/ not saying you shouldn't have been honest necessarily, I think it was just one of those times when the police get the best of you .

  4. yea that's why I don't think I need to hire a lawyer...I don't think I have a solid defense with all the stupid shits I told the cop that day..:(
I've been reading a lot online on random forums, some people were saying you can offer the judge to donate to a charity or you can talk to the crown how this can really ruin my future plans and whatnot..I'm willing to do any of those, just not sure if it's going to get me outta the court with criminal record free.

Plus my friends and I had a plan to go to vegas when we all turned 21 :( now that's in stake.

  5. Bro its fucking Canada. I've been busted with more then that and have got off.. How old are you? Lemme guess 18 right

    20 broooo
    pretty much 19 though..
parents made me do grade 3 again - finished gr 3 in korea then moved to winnipeg and did grade 3 again- since then i've been chillin with kids year younger than me

    anyways
did you get away record free? or what?
and where abouts you from when you got busted

  7. Youre getting the death sentence for sure

  8. The judge will probly give you community service or something and it will be off your record bro. Just kiss ass to the judge and your good

  9. I live in Surrey and a bunch of my friends have been in situations like yours, youll be fine in Canada lol.

  10. They'll drop the charge. Not worth the judge or crown's time, they charge you to scare you. With no record, your honestly was only a benefit in this case. Your real mistake was allowing them to search, especially knowing what was inside the bag.

Don't waste money on a lawyer.

  11. dear fellow Canadian ...

    CHILL THE FUCK OUT

lol get ur shit together and think straight,

do you even know our Laws against weed?
    its not that bad lol

  12. Now that other fellow canuks posted I am even more positive you will be fine

  13. Lol what I'm about to say is not going to matter but I'm almost certain the pig kept 4gs to himself and used the remaining as evidence

  14. Don't get the duty counsel. In the states we call the public defender (our version of duty counsel) a public pretender. Id tell your parents and ask for help with a lawyer. If they can help with money that is. Just explain to them that everyone does it in Canada and that you won't do it again. Or tell them the truth that you blaze and that is that.

  15. After reading that you said you think he took some i remembered what happened to a friend years go. He got caught with unmentionables and when he was in coury he said that the evidence they had on him wasnt right it was only half of what he had. The judge threw it out of court. i wouldnt suggest trying it tho lol

  16. wait what
    why wouldn't i get the duty counsel....lol
it sounds like this is rather a waste of time for the court and with the duty counsel and my background I'm 88% confident I'll be outta there record free..

  17. I know people who get off trafficking charges scott free, multiples times. You'll be fine buddy!

  18. Yeah, BUT Stephen/Steven Harper is a piece of shit and is probably the only reason this Canadian officer gave a fuck about weed. Before Stephen Harper came into office, weed was like the most widely accepted past-time in Canada.
I live in the states, but I watch Marijuana Man's videos and he's in Vancouver, BC.

  19. I don't think the cop liked me that's why
he thought i was being rude
he was just gonna release me at the house but then I sighed and he thought I was sighing as if i was saying " i just want this shit over with lets go already" lmao then he stopped and wrote me a god damn ticket and released me at the gas station.

  20. The cop asked if it was 3 grams because he's gonna pocket the other 4 and put 3grams on the police record. :p
