Hello blades! And welcome to my 2012 grow show  I'm around 42N East Coast, first time in the swamp.

The bug has officially bit me and I couldn't wait to get things started, so I'm here a little early this year. Taking things a bit more serious this year, there has already been extensive planning going into this one, so hopefully it will pay off around October haha. This will be my 5th outdoor, 2 good runs, 1 poor and one fruitless season, but that is all in the past now. I have learned a hell of a lot over the years from my own grows and my fellow GCers, much credit due to all out there! I will however (try to) keep it short and sweet for now and address things as they come up, so stay tuned! DIY coldframe coming up next.

Important stuff:
In all past years I have just ran bagseed, gifted and from a hermie or two of my own. Always been almost all females, but seeds getting old, and just needed to step it up this year. Still starting with bagseed as testers but I ordered some seeds for the first time :D, some (freebies) I don't think will finish but here are the main ones:

Nirvana PPP and Aurora Indica
KC Brains Brain Damage
GHS Himalayan Gold
Female Seeds Easy Sativa and Maroc
Barney's LSD

Currently planning on 5 gallon grow bags and 5 gallon smart pots, 7 if they get big enough. Lost my previous spots to a new development so the main spot is a swamp, spread out a bit.
On a pretty tight budget so decided to make my own mix/promix substitute this year, hopefully goes well. Mix is roughly as follows: (unmixed so far)

3.0 c.ft? Premier sphagnum peat moss. Its the compressed bale, I don't actually know how much it will expand to, I've heard up to 7 c.ft, (almost 50 gallons!) But we'll see...
2 c. ft FF Happy Frog
.75 c.ft Scott's Humus/Compost
Bag each of Perlite and Vermiculite
Water crystals - definitely recommend
High P bat guano, more added in flower
Dolomite lime

Gonna try and keep some organic, also going to try KISS Method with Maxibloom only. Maybe some more things here and there ;)
Thanks for dropping by, don't be a lurker, any and all comments welcome! :smoke:

Hey Cordor, good to see you around, hope all is well.

Thanks for droppin in infiniti

Mixed some soil today, ended up filling 10 5 gallons with maybe 5 gallons extra. 3 on the back right are smart pots. Have to mix guano and water crystals in individually, I mainly wanted to get it done to give the lime some time to kick in. Tarp was definitely a good idea

Haha yep the easy sativa is a surprisingly good strain,
Chopping down my last one today so I'll be back with some pics later :)

Did you start the seedlings indoors this year :)?
Was looking at your previous grows , 08 was a mad grow !!
I reckon you will top that this year with the preparations you've done .

Do you have any fences to use ? Here shit gets eaten all the time .
Good luck :)

Thanks man. No, I've never been able to start any outdoor grows inside, minus the 08 grow, which is why it was so successful I'm sure. Sucks but what can ya do?
Yes, I've lost many many seedlings to snails and animals and other environmental factors. I have certainly learned my lesson, no more plants without fences ever again! That was the downfall of last year, some fuckin thing eating them all.. Hoping for about 10-12 plants in a few different spots this year.

looking forward to seeing this as im in a swamp near 42* NE... better not be the same bog bro!

what are you goin to be finishing these up in? what are you elevating off the muck with?
i know planting into the ground with rich soil is optimum but being able to sneak some in a swampy area where no one will go is likely to be leaving you with bud in october.. im thinking about using the 32 gal barrels i know they wont become monsters but you just cant pop them in the ground in these areas! sub'd

From Ne too Pa. I'm going in the swamp as usual great security and all day light. Can't beat swamping IMO long as you keep em from getting to wet. I'm trying some autos this year (smurfberry,Pandora, and diesel Ryder) gonna put them on a pallets in 5 gal.pails using wicks from an old abandoned looks like a kids sled only metal for water.i have no way to put up photos as i only have a kindle to get online with right now.my cell wont put pics on it IDK. If i sub in do i automatically get back here. Don't know how. Neway best of luck to all. I'll check back in and keep you updated. I'm also growing out some skunk (family heirloom) ,some kush,an easy sativa, and some freebies if they finish on time

Yo Ganja, thanks for comin by. I plan on finishing in 5 gallons, up until right now I wasn't worried much about them outgrowing the 5s! 3 or 4 will be in smart pots, maybe one 7 gallon.
The swamp I'm in, kinda grassy weedy soil with a little bit of water, or water when you step on it seeps up, so I think they will be fine just on top, maybe with some added lime underneath the pots as recommended by Corto. I still have to check the soil and ph more closely.

Welcome PAgreen  I would argue PA is a little south of the NE but its all good bro haha. Your plan seems pretty solid, I've read about people doing something similar. Meant to do auto's myself this year but didnt end up happening. Wanted to try the Big Devil #2, think they are/were out of stock though.
I don't subscribe to threads really, but this one I get daily emails that show me the new posts and a link to the thread.

Good stuff man, yeah fences go a long way aye haha :)
Just get them shit loads of sun, keep the water up to em and they will do the rest :)

Most of my Easy Sativas finished up weeks ago and i harvested the last yesterday which was a different fruity phenotype but a bitch to trim.
Either way your gonna be pretty impressed with the strain i reckon .

Good luck !!
Ill definantly be hanging around

Hey man I'm a northeasterner as well, I was considering a swamp grow this year but opted against it due to this weird weather we've been having. Those swamps are gunna get real buggy, real fast I think hahaha. But I'll be watching to maybe get some ideas/inspiration for next season. Keep it up, good luck!

Hey BlueMagoo, been checking you your journal too, kind of a lurker though haha, nice start though.
Yeah, I've never really been out to the swamp much, only encountered ticks so far. Kinda butts up to a pine forest kinda thing so hopefully the skeeters won't be too bad. I think it will be a good year, weather wise, still anxious to see what it will be like in fall though.

Guess I wanted to take the opportunity to throw this out there as well: It's supposed to be a real bad tick season this year, especially in the NE and Midwest. I hope everyone is real careful out there, Lyme disease is nothing to fuck with, and is pretty significant I know at least in the Northeast, deer ticks etc. I try and use Deet and Permethrin myself. I check myself over when I get to a spot, leave the spot, before I get into any vehicle, then I recheck when I get home, strip, recheck, and shower and wash clothes asap when possible. Call it paranoid, but Lyme disease free and damn sure wanna stay that way. ;)

Sounds like a solid plan TP .. Looking forward to this year!

If you haven't bought the smart pots yet I have a suggestion .. Burlap sacks .. I get them for $5 each filled w 50# of composted loam/manure or $2 empty .. They hold just over 5gal worth of soil and they work great .. Neutral color and just cut em open and plant .. The material is a little looser than smart pots so you will see way more roots growing down into the ground so don't move them after the first couple weeks.

No sure your local in NE but hit me up via PM :)

Hey cordor .. Hit me up gotta get the pits together bro .. Their about the same size so I'm sure they'll have a blast knockin heads together lol

Yeah I haven't been around nearly as often .. That four letter word .. Work.. Keeps me busy 60hrs+ a week
I've mostly been lurking but I'll prob be Mia for the next month unless you PM me .. Building a 4x8 veggie green house from scratch and prepping 3 plots (10/10/25) so I'll be busy

Yeah I never would have thought of it either but was looking into raised beds and urban gardens and they mentioned burlap so I looked into it .. The biodegrade after a season but cheap enough to replace lol just try to wash them or soak them to make sure no nasty shits on the bags(contaminants/foreign bugs ect)

If you have urban plots like myself take a look nearby at local sources .. 15tires got dumped next to my big plot so I'm using those as containers 1 plant per tire.

Gimme a holla via PMA if ya need anything or got a question
