Netbeans

Or Jgrasp if you're a total noob.

I work with the .net framework so I use Visual studio almost exclusively

On Windows I usually use Visual Studio for C/C++, sometimes Code::Blocks.

On Linux I used Code::Blocks, but now I just use a text editor like scite and do project management and everything else my own way.

Geany isn't bad either

I don't know if Notepad++ qualifies as an IDE, but I use that for development when I'm on Windows. Since I migrated to Linux for my development work, I've been using Komodo Edit mainly and vim if I just need to make a quick edit.

Komodo Edit for me lately, or like the others Visual Studio when working with .NET.

Do you consider these IDEs superior to eclipse?

Do you consider these IDEs superior to eclipse?

Eclipse is good for Java, but it is very clunky (lots of RAM used for eclipse) and I wouldn't recommend it for programming anything other than Java (or possibly Android) applications. Eclipse has a Java console and debugger built in and it makes compiling complex Java apps easy.

I use Komodo Edit mostly for web site/app development (PHP/JS/CSS/HTML) since that is what I've been doing. I would still revert to eclipse for Java development if that was the language I was using.

I consider the ones I posted superior, but I don't program in Java much (in 3 years).
