I need to swing by home depot and see if I can find a couple more open box T5 high outputs.. If I just take the rest of the shed 2 more would give me more or less complete coverage of 3 sides.. I'd be pulling 6 hundred watts but could shut down the 100 the cloner pulls in the garage.. BNW
The new Vegetarium; trial run of a dozen now soaking. Edit: lower tier for sprouts through first transplant and topping is 52 watts @6500k and upper tier for LST and heavy veg is 73 watts blending @2700k-4100k-5000k-7800k.
Although roughly finished, the consolidated grow space won't go online until January 1 as this whole effort is my early New Years Revolution. Flowering will be the LED and HID combined with both fluorescent units and whatever compliment of CFLs suits the mood but should decrease my demands on the power bill slightly. Very likely the obsessive compulsive part of my nature will have me dismantle and more properly align things before then.
Actual.. The Father In Law wired the shed back in the 50s from bits of scrap off job sites and I try not to load it any more then necessary as I know it's a half assed setup at best.. Pulling the existing 400 watts heats the plug it's all tied in with slightly as it stands so even an additional 100 watts out there will be pushing things.. It's a mass of soldered and friction taped connections I'd have to rip out every inch of it and start from scratch.. Half of the wires are what holding up what the termites haven't eaten away of the shed so it's a where would you start.. BNW
Not much of a handyman here; the wife does all the complicated repairs while I stand by fidgeting. I puzzled over the details of my new little grow space for what seems like forever before acting on it. No wiring necessary and but haven't addressed ventilation; having the rough setup in place does give a sense of accomplishment. Plan to shore it up properly and deal with other issues before it's operational. The triangular addition can hold six 5 gal comfortably with six more inside the small closet which bumps my numbers up again. All speculative at this point as the Ladyboys haven't filled out yet and I'm not sure how many of the six now flowering will still be running. Put the next three in the soil this morning along with a fresh dozen for the new box (the container I had the previous dozen seed germinating in had a slightly rancid smell so I chucked them and started fresh). January should be a very crowded calendar with all these being juggled. Third node topping for the new babies as well today so things are moving ahead despite the losses due to Ball Fever last week in the Big Room.
While the last effort bettered the one before it, this current group of three is poised to squash all records but their reign of superiority will be short lived as the single remaining member of the original spin class looks like it has the potential to swallow them all.
Fresh faces from above, a week late in getting under way for test driving the new box but welcome nonetheless. As I want to fully gauge it's ability to keep pace with the Vegetarium, a dozen are headed there while three will remain here to provide a comparison. Shortens the trial run a bit but I can get a feel for what it will accomplish by the end of the year. January 1 the new system should be operational - HPS/LED/CFL/Fluorescent combo for flowering at 748 watts initially while the box runs at 149; much more efficient than my kaleidoscopic nightmare at it's most insane. I'm ready to concede that I'll only be able to comfortably run nine in flower but eager to experiment with individual scrogs as my impatient nature won't allow anything to remain in one spot for the full term.
The three in the following wave are already more productive than this and the graduate of the first spin class looks like it may outshine them all.
Last week in the Big Room; adding reflective insulation to both new systems (since I'm this far in, another $40 is piddles). Really should try to do a cost breakdown for each just to see what it would run starting from scratch.
A Growers Christmas Lament ===================================== Twas an hour before 420 and all through the grow Something was amiss but what I didn't know The cuttings were placed in the rock wool with care In hopes that new roots structures soon would be there The clones were all happy having just been fed While visions of smoking them danced in my head With buds in a jar and kief in the cap If I smoke more of this I'll need a long nap When out of my grow there arose such a clatter I staggered from my couch and dumped all my shatter Away to my tent I flew with a flash Ripped open the zipper and spilled drying hash The halide lamps color of new fallen snow Gave the luster of midday for the cannabis below When what to my bleeding red eyes should appear But a miniature web and 8 tiny mites oh dear With a shiver down my spine I moved really quick Thinking to myself I've been a real dick More rapid then fans my treatments they came And I whistled and shouted and called them by name Now Neem, Now Lavender, Now Rosemary and Cinnamon On Spinosad, On Thuricide, On Thyme and Pyrethrum From the top of the light To the last inch of wall Now Kill them Kill them KILL THEM ALL !!! As dry fan leafs before the duct fans they fly A few bong hits like that I'll be high as the sky So off to the kitchen I staggered and slew Ripped open the cupboards and ate all the brownies too And then in a stupor I heard at the door The whine of a bullhorn and dove to the floor As I drew in my head and was turning around Down the chimney my growme came with a bound He was dressed all in tie dye from his head to his foot And his trip down the pipe stack had him covered in soot A kilo of fine weed was clutched in his hand He said it's the cops please hide me good man His eyes stared in terror This must be in error I have my recommendation They'll beat me past resuscitation The stump of the pipe he held tight in his teeth Stunk of something dead like skunk crossed with sheep He pulled out a jar of mixed hash and kief If you help me escape this is yours to keep I opened the door and confronted the cops With my papers in hand this really must stop The look in his eyes and his hand on his gun Convinced my growme and I we should have just run We spoke not a word but stood handcuffed in place Watching in horror as the officer strip searched the space He spoke not a word but went straight to his work When finding the butane he turned with a jerk And laying his finger aside of his nose In front of the judge your going to get hosed Shoved into his car in the deep dead of night I heard him exclaim as we drove out of sight Merry Hempfest to all and to all a Good Night !!!!!!!!!!! In the days of the Schwinn with it's gold glitter seat we didn't wear helmets when we fell in the street no thought about x-rays for the lump on your headjust bactine and band-aids and early to bed then up before twilight for a slow evening ride in the malathion mist that lingered outside
