Paprika - its a anime movie about this device called the mini dc where it records people's dreams for therapy and shit goes crazy. you'll probably have to watch again sober to really understand it. its really trippy

That show is such a trip, man. Seriously hope you love it. I'm not into watching anime all the time but this is just a really, really interesting show with a killer soundtrack. Enjoy.

If they didn't botch the sot out of it, I would have recommended the Xenosaga Animated Series. However, it was toned down for children and inconsistencies make it near unwatchable.

I would recommend picking up the games or reading the lore though. It's a deep and convoluted story about the collapse of the lower domain of real space, how it has been reset to an earlier period in history many times, the collective unconsciousness and the will to control it's power through the Zohar, a monolithithic artifact of "god" (U-DO, which is actually the collective consciousness of everything that ever has and ever will live. The point of the games is to stop the cycle and find a way to survive despite the collapse of the lower domain of space.

I'd write more, but it would take a month just to explain the main concept, and even then you still wouldn't get it until you immerse yourself in the rest of the game's lore, such as Realians (Synthetic humans; kind of like a clone), Ancient human history (rooted strongly in reality), etc etc.

Princess Mononoke is another film by Miyazaki. Its a lot more violent however.

I can't thank you enough for showing me FLCL. I loved it. But I think In a way it's kick started my depression again. How much I want to live In a world like that. I finished watching it and now I just feel blank. I hate reality.:(

Any movie by that director is good, like My Neighbor Totoro, Howls Moving Castle etc.

I havent seen it but my brother recommends Paprika, like a animated version of Inception but better.
