Been looking forward to running these strains for quite some time. My setup is documented in prior grows, which are all listed in one of my blog entries. Basically recycled super soil, smart pots, 600W lumatek in a 2x4x8' high cabinet for flowering, goal to run a lot of strains quickly and settle on ten moms to run for the rest of my life. Taste, smell, buzz, healthy growth in my environment are my paramount goals. I don't much care about yield. I'm a weed nerd, no doubtaboutit.

I have ten bonsai moms already, so every run now is a competition for an existing slot. I expect these powerhouse strains to compete well and hope to have them around for a long time...

A special thing about this run is that my last two have been clone only, for various reasons. So I'm looking forward to a return to the basics of growing: popping them regular seeds. :smoke:

Oh, I'm in. Love TGA's stuff, thing I don't like is shopping for 'the pheno', but it has it's moments too. Also gripe at the yeild, but the bud is top shelf in quality when you find the pheno with that awesome potential. Most people oww and ahhh at the taste, they have some very outstanding tastes in the stable. You should see my friends faces when they get gifted a baggy of intensely sparkley, chewy, stinky nugs and the exclaimations of joy when it tastes like lime or lemon's or Grand Marnier on exhale. Like I will never forget my first hit of 'bubblegum'. Oh, my Gawd, what a taste...different company tho :D

I've never tasted either strain, so am quite curious...although it's possible some alcohol induced amnesia did it to me, too...

Well how cool is that, I have a fellow southerner, a midwesterner at least to go by my guess on OSUB, and a PacNW veteran along. It's bicoastal! SP, I've run one other TGA strain, THe Flav, and it was a great fav for me and my friends...still is. So I have high hopes for these.

And...five QTs plus four Vortexes (VOrtices?) popped by trad paper towel method, and voila, we have ignition on all nine engines :hello:

I'm thinking about growing Qrazy Train so I'll follow along. The Flav just so happens to be another one I was thinking about, because it says "mind expanding and visual high" on Attitude, and I think that sounds awesome.

Welcome, Dissec...in case you haven't found em, Subcool does a series of videos on youtube...well, he's done hundreds over the years, but the recent series is called "weed nerd". And in Weed Nerd 53, I think it is, the latest as of yesterday, he talks a bit about The Flav. First discussion of it from him that I've heard of. For me it was, yeah, my first real sativa high, quite a rush. It's genetically a 40/60 sativa/indica blend, but I got phenos from the sativa side. Since then I've run some haze hybrids that were trippier, and also The Flav definitely mellows a bit with age and long curing. I still like it, though.

Here's some fun memories of that run, The Flav at day 52 I think it was:

Here are my new Vortex and QT seedlings at day 7 after germination, ready to transplant out of the cups and into small smart pots.

Sweet! Ock, repping what I used to think was SoCal, now holding down the entire tier of southern states. Hey, did you catch Gov Nikki Haley on the Colbert show the other day? S.C. has never looked so good, at least on the Comedy Channel

I dunno what happened to my promised last pic of seedlings before transplant. I wonder whether GC is filtering out more than one image inserted inline these days? Hmm...I spose I could test that...

So here's the pic I thought I'd inserted above, the nine seedlings just before transplanting to lil smart pots
http://forum.grasscity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=853217&stc=1&d=1333709546

and here, I swear, is a second jpg showing the seedlings a day later and after transplant
http://forum.grasscity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=853218&stc=1&d=1333709564

C'mon GC, I downsize and downrez these images like crazy, having I guess the boomers' version of Great Depression mentality: assuming there is not enough bandwidth for you blades to handle large images  Let em through! hey they're there on the preview...

See ya...

Do you see how it's starting? Lot of boomerisms slipping into your speech. Pretty soon, you'll forget you are using them in front of everyone. Or something like that. For some reason.

Papa, thanks, but just keep doing what you're doing, you've got the gold standard soil already...and personally I recommend planning for recycling that super soil you have. Get it right, build it up over time and hold onto it, nature's way. I can give you my version of the method, but I got it from Chunk and he is the master afaik. Anyway, you'll develop a sense of what it needs and what it doesn't over a series of grows, mostly what it doesn't. Just add some fresh ewc and it's all good as far as the needs of this lovely resilient plant go....

....unless like Ock here you get yourself into a personal pickle involving important people in your life who help make things complicated....and you find yourself doing dro  and having to measure EC/PPM and Ph daily and so forth and so on....

I forgot already mon. I don see nuthin atm. Here's a Good Friday for me: pop a canna cap after a couple weeks of abstinence, turn on the Police and Thieves pandora channel featuring Desmond Dekker and the like, jar up the latest Sour D, burp the Alien Dog and Kandy Kush, and chill while watching babylon burning red hot. I have already forgotten what's in my speech....in fact in a minute I'm going to grab my bass and start playing along and pretty soon boomers and genxrs and millenials and all will vanish utterly from conciousness :smoke:

My great respects and best wishes to you, though, hope you are getting some notes down on the page and digits on the recorder...

Howdy Marapa,
Yep, politics here in the south are either depressing or funny, depending on my mood.

de·press·ing/diˈpresiNG/ Adjective:
1.Causing or resulting in a feeling of miserable dejection.
2.Causing a damaging reduction in economic activity.

Hmmmm, when are they gonna figure out that those 2 deffs go hand in hand???

It's fun seeing your indoor projects. You have the skills my old friend.

Bro, I know you are indoors, but you may see some similarities to OD plants re the Vortex. You're going to have a lot of fun with em. OP's method of staking and then mason's twine circling the plant and attahed to the bigger stems always keep mine standing outside when they get large. And some really get very large. I had a half-pounder a couple years back. The growing buds are some of the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen or smelled. They really do finish in 7 to 8 weeks outside, and the last 2 weeks they swell like summer clouds blowing up out of the Gulf during the late Summer months; moist and fluffy. They are certainly a collector's bud- the smell, the heavy resin, even after a good cure and dry. I found them to be easy to grow as well.

Have fun indoors, and think of me this summer while I'm hauling water and you're sitting in front of your a/c swilling cold beverages. Warmest regards, GJs

PS. I'm running 5 of TGA's Agent Orange this summer. I want to get some of those "tree" genetics
mixed into my gene pool. Plus I'll be running a batch of Vortex X SAGE and Sour D. The F1 pheno of that crop was incredible. I'm hoping F2 will be just as good.

mmR GJ: I'm honored to have you stop by, sir. And to drop some of that TGA knowledge on me. Have you been pulled into Sub's distinctive marketing culture, The Weed Nerd? I'm enjoying it...not sure exactly why, but my dose of redneck genetics no doubt has something to do with it.

I will be thinking of you this summer, and I hope following your hijinks in some thread or another--I just saw that OP is back up and rarin to go in his.

The notes on VOrtex' habit are most interesting. I would normally run it and the others mostly natural, since I have this small space. But I had such a screwed up canopy last time, with radically different heights and widths, that I think I can't help myself and am going to top and pull down the leaders...despite the fact that Vortex gets so big and loofy. I just want to see that magic carpet of green and white and gold, even if mine is a tiny lil carpet.

Hope you'll drop by on occasion when you're back in from all that hauling, watering, hiding, bug slapping and snake handling out there....I would try to make it look harder inside, but hey, it just ain't so. Something about having a/c and a nearby frig, couch, tv and stereo really changes the feel of these grows...as Dankohzee is now learning. :smoke:

Mornin you old Tarheel (???)

The honor is mine. You are a lively lad indeed and it's always fun to watch and hear of your exploits. There is a big octopus pheno type hyding in those Vortex genetics. My big girl had 30+ stems waving around. They never made colas 'proper' because of the 8' stretch, but all the buds filled out nice and fat.

You keep on having fun. I get a kick out of how organized you are; and, you seem to know some Latin and Hindi. This grow will be fun to watch. I have not checked out Weed Nerd yet, but I will. You also might look at this thread TGA By Others
if you haven't already found it. I wish I had a Vortex male. Those TGA males seem to be in demand for Gs who like to breed.

I'm headed to a Carolina beach in the morning for some RnR- oysters, beer, redfish, marsh sunsets. Take good care, GJs

Yes, well I'm playing a nice little round of spin the pickle as we speak.

The Dro sisters are about it. 24/43 as of yesterday eve, and more coming I am told. My Bluelab combo tester makes reading that stuff very simple, and I always know if they're getting fed well - besides, Mari is enjoying being in on the process. For some reason. ;)

very nice looking unique plants. I have some Tga's but they must have been stunted because they are 1/10'th the size of yours (germinated at the same time). just so tiny and barely showing 3&4 leaves. I germinated them in a fully amended soil that i mixed up the same day. strain is ripped bubba- JTR and pre 98 bubba kush..

thanks, H2t. Innaresting on your plants. I do think it's a good idea to give the super soil time to cook or whatever you want to call it...4-5 weeks. Also I usually put newly popped beans into cups with straight ProMix, or old recycled supersoil without any fresh ewc. Also use T5 fluoros in my nursery. All those things together seem to be a good environment for the youngsters...

I posted this pic over in Ms. SkunkP's thread, for SeanDawg, to show how bad I'm missing Hawaii atm. I have kukui nut and puka shell guards to my moms area, along with the big little kahuna himself, Growda, who is happily clutching a bud of my latest Sour Diesel on his koa throne...all in search of aloha spirit for my cannabis. :smoke:
