I love getting stoned in spring/summer at a buddy's man-made pond.

Large mouth bass and catfish make up most of the fish in it. Some crappie too.

Can't wait til the weather gets warmer!

Drinking/smoking/fishing all day long in the summer is one of my favorite things to do.

Backwoods fisherman here. I've snagged spoonbill (great time), Fly fished for trout (also a great time), set line for catfish on the river, fished for walleye, bass, pike, muskie, and assorted panfish. I love hard to reach spots and private lakes, as well as power houses (we have canals, great for channel cat). I've spent my life since I was 5 years old fishing, and will continue to do so till the day I die.

I enjoy fly fishing mountain creeks for cutthroat trout and bull trout. Rivers for big bull trout rainbows and browns. Lakes for walleye and huge pike. Nothing better than getting high in the mountains tho.

How much does a decent setup cost? Lures, pole, etc...just something to get me started at the lake or river.

I haven't fished in years so I don't own any equipment but the weather is getting nice and I don't want to waste my summer indoors.

You can get a pretty good rod and reel setup for <$50. Go to your local outdoors store and ask a guy in the fishing department to hook you up. I'd recommend getting line with ~20 lb test because you probably won't be running into any fish heavier than that. As far as lures go, I have found that something called roboworms work really great for bass! They are a rubber worm that use a salt release system that attracts the fish... or something like that. If you can find those, pick them up! You don't need to spend much on lures, definitely >$20. I would argue that good old fashioned hook and worm works just as well as any other lure. Then, you'll want some miscellaneous stuff like hooks, sinkers, plyers, etc. And of course a tackle box to keep all of your stuff. All together if you want some good stuff you can easily get out for >$75. Then again, you could also spend $200 if you wanted to! So, just ask the guy that's working at the store and he'll help you out. Goodluck fishing this summer! :smoke:

Offtopic- I wrote a reply to Self_Exile last night and it said that it had to be approved by a mod... Any reason why/why it wasn't approved?

I fish for just about everything that you can catch where I live but right now Im going after crappie. I bass fish and catfish too, just depends on what I feel like going for. I mainly stick to a few lakes near me but I fish in the Cumberland, and Stones river as well.

It really just depends on what you want to catch and what the fish are going for that day. Worms are simple to use, some lures can take a bit to get the technique down.
