1st time grower, although I have an extensive background in botany. I decided to grow because my friend gave me some seeds and, being the curious dude I am, I researched to my brain's content and found cannabis to live in one of the more difficult environments to mimic. Challenge accepted!

I am constructing the the box in my attic..and I'm about 80% done and decided to post some setup pics early on and update it with progress.

The box will be 48d x 36w x 50h inches. 400w MH/HPS... shelves attached for outtake fans (later adding carbon filters onto the outtake hole when odor becomes a problem). One 16x16 inches passive intake hole on wall. Hinged door that hasn't been attached just yet. Disregard the random duct..I haven't connected it to the reflector and walls yet.

Germinating some bagseeds this weekend that I have and some from a friend that are some hybrid, but doesn't know what they are...(the guessing game will be in employed)

Plan on using FFOF soil mixed with perlite, vermiculite and possible some top soil or something that will dilute, to a very little degree, the nutrients in the soil, helping with pH fluctuations (esp. lowering). Probably going to use the trio pack of FF and most likely not use the grow big, but I haven't decided yet, either FF or floranova grow and bloom.

Will post more pics real soon!

Yeah but it doesn't matter too much considering if it turns out to be a male then the whole purpose of this was to construct the box and get a live and learn lesson out of it. I'm out of seeds so I will have to find some source, probably pick some up in LA this summer. Hope I can still find you on here after all that time!

Looks like something bit the tip off of one of the leaves..interesting..I'm probably going to conserve the soil from the 3 other pots and use them again in October. That time I will add some amendments and go organic despite my first post :D

Just gotta keep my eye out for seeds!

I have checked out premier seeds, the one from the Netherlands, but I don't know quite yet. I've seen nirvana and attitude seed bank as well. I guess it's just the legality and discretion I'm worried about..where do you get yours?

lol....I hear you man. I was scared at first, but it's all good. I have ordered twice from attitude. I live east coast, took about 7 days.

Do whatever your comfortable with man ;) I just realized if I wanted the good name strains. I would have to sooner or later. I didn't want random bag seeds.

Take Care
Peace :smoke:

Right on, makes sense..you paid with your card and sent it to your address? Were there any discrete shipping options or anything?

Day 18. One of the first true leaves is slightly yellowing but not at the tip and I believe it's just not getting enough light. Hopefully isn't a harbinger of future problems..other than that everything looks great.

Tru..you're prob the only that looks at this journal haha, do you ever pinch off the axillary leaves? Especially the bottom ones since they will eventually be shaded out and die off.

Looks good man. Just make sure your pH is on. That yellow doesnt look like much to worry about to me. The yellowing if anything is probably just the fox farm soil its heavy with nutrients. I flush my starting fox farm soil a little bit before I use it. Just dont give it any nutrients for awhile. Sub'd

Yeah I integrated a good amount of dolomitic lime into the soil, right now I dont have a pH meter..when you say flush, what exactly do you mean? Semi-flood it with pure water to flush out a portion of the nutrients?

I just bought some peruvian bat guano 10-10-2 that I plan on throwing in a compost tea when I switch to the flowering phase...that's probably another 1.5-2 weeks away.

Glad to see it's not so lonely on this forum :)

When do you think I can began trying to identify the strain..when is starts flowering? Or loosely narrow it down using its height, bushiness, internodal distance, smell etc?

This pdf I found is so extensive...I tried downloading it as an attachment but its .2MB too big :devious:

Well they're random bagseeds, so I don't know what they are..indica/sativa, taste, smell, size. I'm asking because they are really stocky.. only about 1 inch between each node:confused:

Well usually short and bushy plants are normally indica. And tall plants sativa. As for the taste and smell...well that is unknown until it is ready to smoke.

I will help you as much as I can, when I can ;)

Take Care Man

I'll post a update tonight for day 21..they're about 4.5 inches tall with 6 nodes..
